10 months, no Green Card

Are we the only ones who have been waiting 10 months for a green card approval? We applied December 2011. No RFEs, no nothing. I tried calling to put in a service request, but they said we cannot put in a service request for family based green cards. Is this true? I sent a letter to the local congresswoman, but so far still nothing. Any other advice? Anybody else in the same situation?

I've never heard that you can't put a service request for family base green cards. Try calling again for a service request. Contact your Senator's office for help and again your congresswoman if no news. You are way past the USCIS timeframe.

Here is the December 2011 AOS filers thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/343245-december-2011-aos-filers/page__st__135

Unfortunately K-1 AoS can take the best part of the year, and sometimes longer, as you are finding out.

No service requests for family-based green cards is bunk and completely untrue.

You can:

(1) Make an Infopass appointment at your local USCIS office and seek the latest case status.

(2) Ask your federal representatives to get involved (as you have done). You have one congressman in the House and two Senators, and can contact as many as you like.

(3) Call USCIS at 1-800-375-5283 and ask to talk to a tier 2 officer about your case status.

We are not in the your boat, but our has been out for over six months and we have not heard anything either.

I called today to put in a service request and guess what?

They were having technical difficulties, so please call back in a few hours. Now I get to go back through the same mess all over again and see if the next person is able to put in a service request or not because of technical difficulties.

I work in IT and this is a bunch of BS the government not having systems available or redundant systems. If not where is all of our tax dollars going?

I think I need to ask for a tier II officer, forgot to do that when I was on the Phone, but will do on the next call.

Thank you all for the replies. I called USCIS again yesterday to put in a service request. This rep told me that the normal processing times are 6 1/2 months whereas the last rep i spoke with said there is no processing timeframe for family based green cards. Confusing to say the least. Anyway, i asked her about putting in another service request, but she said my wife had already done that 13 days ago (my wife didn't realize she did) so we have to wait 2 more days for a response before putting in another request. This whole process to me, is quite ridiculous. I thought getting the fiance visa was bad, but this is much worse. USCIS is so hard to deal with.

You’re not alone. I took Irina into our congressman’s office yesterday and had her sign the privacy of information paper so they could look into it.

I-797C, NOA, Transfer Notice dated Feb. 27, 2012 states “This is to advise you that in order to speed up processing we have transferred the above case to the following USCIS office for processing: California Service Center, 2nd Flr, 24000 Avila Road, Laguna Niguel CA.”

If this does not work the next step is a visit Sen. Orrin Hatch’s office.
