Hello everyone,

just need some answers please,

Went to my interview today with my husband, it was like 5 minutes and she said that the marriage was approved but needs to do background check. can someone tell me what that means? I thought they did it when I got fingerprinted.

Got my work authorization card in the mail and got my job back, so happy.

if they kept your passport so you are under section administrative review and they will call you when they finish their inquiries good luck :)

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

It means you may be statutorily barred from Adjusting Status, due to having a ban or an incomplete J-1 2 year HRR or some other thing. Without any information, it is impossible to know.

What is your immigration history?

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Came as a student F-1 visa. Then applied for OPT. Then got married in April and applied for green card. Got my work authorization in the mail alone with I-512 card (same card). Went to interview was about 5 minutes. They took my I-94 and she said marriage was approved just have to do background check.

My guess is that your name check is not completed yet.It's different from fingerprint check. Fingerprinting is done to check if you have any arrest record. It's usually cleared within a day or two. The name check can take time depending on how many hits do they get while processing your name.

Same as mine. That means they approved the I-130 and will approve I-485 after everything is cleared.

Check the case status for your I-130 online. If approved it should say:

On October xx, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

You will get the mail soon after the status changed.

They told me it was approved but it doesn't say it online. It still says on July 19 we received this petition and we mailed you a notice for interview. I already went to interview and she said it was approved but the i485 she had to do background check. She was coming from maternity break so it was her first day and she didn't have a computer near her. So I just hope everything is going well. My lawyer said it was normal. I mean everything til about 4 months and I will start working next week, so I'm just glad for that.

If you want to know about your biometrics, if FBI has cleared it already call this number free 304-625-5590 Then after listening what the automatic message says, you will press 2. Then after you will follow the steps and they will inform you about your biometrics. But you should have your Alien registration number ready

Probably the local IO want to wait for everything to clear before approving both.
