'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

I don't see older women/younger men marriages as less than normal. If I did, I would be labeling the Prophet's marriage with Khadijah subnormal. I wouldn't do that.

Older women with younger men is not new or unique, merely discouraged and uncelebrated. Perhaps posting a list of age difference relationships thru the ages would be helpful. I'll look into it.

Valid point, but some here won't respect the fact that the Prophet was married to an older woman. I would never be so bold as to say that the men of these ages are more entitiled to the "highly desired" younger woman than the prophet himself.

What is so unfortunate is that young women with age prejudices don't seem to realize is that one day, if they don't die soon, they will be us. They also don't realize that it doesn't take long to age over 40, or that there is a negative perception in society of women over 40 which will become very real for them. If their marriages do not last, then they will have to learn to cope with the reality of older male/female dynamics and the judgment from younger women like that they subject us to now. It will be rude awakening, especially if they don't snap out of their male-oriented thinking.

Ok so if they do actually select a younger woman than to me that means they actually are looking for love since they are being selective.

Why would age in this case signify selectivity? What if there are two women that he is interested in, one is say 5 yrs older and one 5 yrs younger. The older one is beautiful, has a great spirit about her, is very loving and nurturing. The younger one is butt ugly, is very selfish and could care less about the man's needs.

If the man goes for the younger one in the above scenario, would you say he is being selective?

szsz, I remember when I saw my first wrinkle on my face. I took the rest of the day off and went to get eye cream, then a haircut and new makeup. It really threw me for a loop. Since then I've quit wearing makeup most of the time and learned to love the way I look older. There are things I would like to change of course, but at some point I realized there was a whole lot more to me than just my young body - when it started going away - and I found myself to have so much to offer.

I remember thinking like some of the younger women here - isn't it funny how time makes us eat our own words?

One could also say/believe that any muslim man that marries outside of his faith (muslim/christian/jew) is not really looking for love or being selective either... is he just settling for whatever will get him a ticket to the land of gold?

I knew from pretty much the beginning of our relationship that Mohamed wanted children. He loves kids. I couldn't go further into the relationship if I didn't want more. That would've been unfair to him. I'm not sure how many more children I could handle but at least one would be great. I have two boys so I'd really like to have a girl and Mohamed really wants a girl. He wants for us to start as soon as he gets here but I would really like to wait at least 6 mos. to start. First, I would like a little "us" time. Another reason would be to test the waters of us actually living as a married couple. I wouldn't want to bring a child into a relationship that's not healthy. Me spending 7 weeks total with him isn't a good judge of whether our marriage would work. I guess 6 mos. isn't a long time either but it's better than nothing and I don't think I can hold out on the old boy longer than that. I really don't want to be having babies into my 40s. My original cut off was 35.

It's good for undereye bags too!

Thanks Ladies ;) , I'll keep that in mind!

For now I'll keep using Mary Kay Timewise Age-fighting Eye Cream. I think it probably smells a little better, unless the other comes unscented. Wouldn't know - haven't used it.

I don't really have to worry too much about them right now since I'm a little overweight, but if this weight starts coming off I'll probably notice it more then.

I've known a few people using the prep h trick but only in emergencies. Is it ok to use everyday?
