Not sure if I ticked the box on the DS230. I guess I should wait another week to see if the A# has been logged at the SS office.

What think you?

I just noticed your case is K1. I remember reading somewhere that for K1 you always have to get the SSN in the local office. I can be wrong.

Can ya wait 2 weeks from 2012-10-06 ??

Give the SAVE database system about 2 weeks past the POE date (2012-10-06) to catch up with her.

Going before 2 weeks (past POE Date) is hit/miss, all depending on whether or not she exists in the SAVE database.

Past 2 weeks, USUALLY, she's in there.

[Just saying]

What think you?

box tick for a K-1 not matter, ever, on the DS-230. Heck, that tick is even on Part II of the DS-230 form, which a K-1 chaser NEVER , ever, uses.

just bring her pass/gc to the ss office. someone there would help you fill out the form. go to ss website to locate your local ss office.

sorry, a K-1 visa holder would not have a green card at this stage, as the POE date was 2012-10-06 and the Adjustment of Status casefile has yet to be presented to USCIS.

Wrong visa, (former) K-1 beneficiary won't have a GC until after completion of AOS process. :bonk:

After at least two weeks after their POE, and after getting married, the (former) K-1 beneficiary needs to take their foreign passport, with attached I-94 paper, their certified marriage license, and a completed SS-5 application to their local Social Security office and apply for their SSN. Hopefully the "Burro" patrol with have updated their I-94 database by then.

OP: Good luck on your immigration journey.

no no no...

NOT NEED Marriage License to apply for SSN.

Some states need SSN to apply for marriage license - check in with yer county courthouse for their EXACT requirements for getting married; as THEY govern what the requirements are for getting married.

You don't need a social to apply for a marriage license in most states, each state has their own requirements, go on line and look them up. For example; Nevada, a passport, birth certificate for non US persons, USC a drivers license and you can prep-apply on line.
