After looking at this data, there are more and more question as to what is causing the lag. Although there are MANY pending petitions, at the national level the volume of completed I-129F exceeds received. Where as VSC volume is the opposite. At some point this service center director needs to make an a decision on how to get this moving. Tranferring a few cases obviously should have some impact, but how much of an affect will it have on the I-129F rates. It is really frustrating to see that at one point (late 2011) the rate of completions exceeded receipts. It appears the last time VSC experienced this lag was back in late 2010.

Just like everyone else I just want some answers. Seeing my expected processing time abitrarily change makes this process feel more difficult. I'm know nothing could be done but wait. Just having some kind of explanation and even better action plan would make this overall process more tolerable. Even make me more patient. Information is key!

Here's a link to the data for those who are interested.

ya buddy...what ever the reason is...the wait is really frustrating...its four months today for me...and based on VJ i should not even think about expecting for something to happen for another 2 and a half months...i wish the director realised soon and did something about it...it just does not seem fair specially when CSC and TSC are geeting their approvals so much faster...

working in an organization that has tickets/cases I can tell that situation is viewed in patterns. So if the condition is 6 back-to-back months with more receipts than completeions and avergage handle time bigger than 5 months it may trigger whatever they have as a backup plan (typically getting more people).

however if the condition is 12 months... we're all screwed.

Does anyone has access to same data as on http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=6&office=6&charttype=1 but for eariler time. I recall that in 09 Vermont was flying, someone I know got an approval in 7 weeks only. So it would be interesting to see for how many months the pile was growing from 09 into the 10 before they relaized that there is a crisis.

Yes, it certainly is frustrating, all you can essentially do is be patient. :clock: The I-129f petition adjudication times for the two service centers were just the opposite from last year. So, I understand your pain.

Good luck on your visa journey.

In 09 the workers weren't getting paid the Federal minimum. They finally got paid after complaining and with help from their congress critter but in 2010 there was a decision to cut Vermont's staff by 100 people and contracted out a whole slew of stuff to centralised locations as part of a reorganization. While Vermont and CSC show the same completion numbers as of Winter 2012 California has steadily been more consistent with the time frame and working receipts, besides the burning through petitions this summer.

Now USCIS has announced they are moving work to local offices to help alleviate the work load although this will not be for K1's.

The story that Vermont was backlogged with Syrian applications is partly true, they did them but were done pretty quickly and imo not enough to warrant the 6-7 month average wait that we are seeing.

It's pretty clear Vermont has bad management. They are out of touch with the actual work and have little to no communication in their day to day operations.

They weren't, Vermont wasn't approving a consistent 3 month time frame and it's painfully clear from the data they weren't working as fast as California at any time in the recent past. Check for yourself, receipts and completions are ALWAYS better at CSC.

Try being a Feb Filer and not have the petition even reviewed yet. All what you can do is send the Fiancee on a vacation and tell her to chill (meaning my fiancee). I am so thankful I have a great job and have a lot of patience. I told her to enjoy her trip to visit her sisters in Japan and I will let her now when it is time for her to return to the home country. I told her she could stay for 3 months so we do not have to get police report from Japan.

So Septmber hang in there and enjoy the wait like the rest of us Feb/March Filers........

Did you contact your Senator or Representative yet? If so, what did he/she have to say about it?

I thought I was a patient man, but you and anyone behind you are champions at this point. I called USCIS just the other day, and I am an April filer. Of course, I was only told what I already knew, but I asked the agent why the backlog. She said there wasn't any  and that the 5 months is no guarantee. I agreed that it wasn't a guarantee and didn't imply that is was. I told her there is obviously a backlog though. She said it all depends on the volume of that particular petition....right lady...volume affects rate of completion hence backlog. In the end, she told me that I was in normal processing times blah blah blah, and that I should call back in the next 2 weeks to see if the system will allow for a service request. Where she pulled out the next 2 weeks I have no idea. I think she just knew at that point that I was going to be argumentative. I knew I was and probably would have lost my temper if we continued. I don't have a great temper anyway, but when someone speaks to me like I am an idiot, they are simply asking for it.

There are a few like Island Gal and others that I really feel for, they have been doing what they can as hard as this is for me I definitely think about them every time I look at Igor's list.

I know what you mean, five months IS the target date and there are NO guarantees. Due to pressuring and many people saying to the reps on the phone their website states a lie (five months) it was finally changed which prompted (I'm betting) the back up plan to move some cases to local offices (not k1's). This had been a goal of mine since July when it was obvious that Vermont was doing much more than falling behind.

That is why I am sure the management is oblivious in Vermont and has no communication or knowledge of day-to-day activities. I've been trying to find out what the back up plan was for three months.

Well we are 2 days apart on the filing date. You have me beat by 2 days. This is getting more than frustrating, I've called also to the USCIS and I think we all get the same canned responses. It seems there is really nothing to do but wait, wait ,wait and then wait some more. I am trying to be happy for CSC filers but that is even getting more difficult to do as the days go by. At least there is some activity in April at VSC, just seems like this time will never end. Never wanted to days to by faster in my life than right now................sigh....................

i hope this election year will impact the k1 petitions in a positive manner - meaning it should make the processing faster and on target, instead of leaving yet another pile for the incoming administration or management. someone should look into this and figure out how to be as efficient (that's the key word here - efficiency) as CSC and TSC. i just filed mine this month and was assigned to the vermont service center (or Very Slow Center) so i expect that i won't be hearing from them till April 2013. we'll just have to expect the worse and hope for the best. we'l all have to hang in there, get a brewski or two and chill. good luck to all of us!
