2) What about using visarite.com to get the "Affidavit of Single Status" for the "Certificate of Marriageability"; will that speed up the process and eliminate some of the beaurocratic nightmare?

you are IN China and NOT reporting back about the trip to a US Consulate/Embassy to get this document?

What the heck ?

What are you thinking?

or

Why did the advice I give you in prior posts not stick ?

1. get to a US Embassy/Consulate in China (Chengdu, Shanghai, Guangzhou, BeiJing) and get the certificate.

2. take it to the marriage office where her hukuo is registered, ask if they accept it as is or need translation to Chinese

2a. if need translation to Chinese, ask them WHICH office to go to for translation into Chinese (as they only accept translations from certain offices)

3. file the marriage paperwork with the marriage office. They take the photos for the marriage books.

then yer married. at some point, take the marriage books in to the OTHER translation office (Chinese to English) and get a white book.

Along the way , pay extra for expedite.

What's up ? That one question about using 'that service' in the USA , whilst yer in China, tells me something is amiss. In a *big* way.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Hi Darnell,

Thanks for your reply, you've always been a great help to me. I do appreciate it very much.

1) What is your opinion on the fastest, easiest way to get the "Affidavit of Single Status" and the "Certificate of Marriageability" approved; using visarite.com, or going through the U.S. Consulate in China?

And yes, I do have the step-by-step 'short list' that you supplied to me in my other forum topic here, I have it in a Word document; thanks so much for that again, it is a real life saver.

Take care,

notmuch88tosay

The answer depends on where you are.

Yer in China for a month. Without a plan.

Sorry.

I handled all in China, we went to BeiJing in the dead of winter and handled the affadavit of marriageability with the US Embassy there. I had an appointment, even.

Then back in her hukuo city, we got the translation of that affadavit translated and then got married in one day.

So for us, was a total of 4 days, including travel time. I planned ahead, secured the appointment prior to leaving the USA.

Hi Darnell,

Yes, that was a dumb question. I know that now.

I do have the instructions given to me in this forum in Microsoft Word files and in PDF files but I have not looked through them until just recently. (Been very busy romancing my fiancee to overome her insecurities about the acne on her face, etc.)

Thus the reason for the dumb question. I am allowed one dumb question per year, correct? Or do I need to apply for a special license for that? :help:

Sure ! Give yer lass 2000 rmb, and YOU NOT GO IN WITH HER.

Have her use the money to pay the special expedite fee (bribe) .

If they see you, they will want more monies and they will slow things down as well.

Make certain she not use a telephone and call you , speaking English, or that will put a 'go-slow' mode switch to the ON position, as well.

STAY AWAY!

Hi Darnell,

So please clarify it more for me, which place am I supposed to hide and stay away from? The Notary Office, the Marriage Office, somewhere else, or a combination of all of the above?

We will be leaving for the U.S. Consulate and to her hokuo city soon, so please get back to me soon if you can.

Thanks,

stay away from the Notary Office. (where birth certificate is issued)

Is ok to hang round the translation office, though. (where white books are produced)

and must to be at the marriage office.

Hi Darnell,

Great, thanks for the info.

But I am planning to disguise myself as the Ambassador of Armania, so I think it will be fine if I hang out at the Notary Office. Noone will notice.

Take care,
