Do you mean that you were married before but it was not documented?

yeah sara , EXACTLY :)

Ok phew glad we got that down!

Now I'm not really sure what to tell you though, I assume you mean you had a religious marriage maybe and not one that was registered in Egypt.

To be honest with you I don't really know the answer to your question but I am sure that someone else could help you. You might want to try posting this in another forum where more people will see it.

Good luck and sorry I can't help more,

Sarah

You would do well to correct this as soon as possible. Its better to make them aware of the error now then have them discover it later. You don't want to appear to be trying to hide information. The Cairo Embassy is very thorough and they're sure to find it. Contact the Embassy and let them know.

If it was not a registered marriage will they be able to find out?

Is it wise to tell them it was undocumented if that's against the law there?

Might they not also then start questioning how many other "undocumented marriages" he may be involved in?

VP- do you and your 'husband' plan to tell them about your undocumented 'marriage'?

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Egypt consulate has been known to question neighbors and family. I'm saying if the Embassy discovers it it would go much harder on them then simply showing the error before hand. Of course, what the poster does is his/her choice.

Of course and I wasn't trying to challenge you or anything I just didn't want to see anyone get in any trouble.

The consular email is ConsularCairo@state.gov

If you decide to proceed this direction, be sure to reference your case number and both the petitioner name and beneficiary name in your email. Its just an extra insurance that they identify your case correctly.

Yes, we've been waiting since the end of March. Its a long story but we experienced about a 2-month delay between confusions at the Embassy and request for a paper. He's waiting out manditory checks right now. Don't let our time line scare you. For muslim males it has appeared in the past that a 4 to 6 month wait after interview is the norm for Cairo. They are thorough but I don't think we've seen any denials here for a long time.

Good luck to you.

Sonna, I would be the last person on earth to understand what the Embassy deems appropriate or inappropriate reasons for returning a petition or denial. I'm not a lawyer so I wouldn't want to suppose even. I know that we've gone into our visa journey with the attitude of being upfront about everything and we have done our best. We did have a circumstance that almost went against us, but even that was addressed openly and our petition was not returned. I was just asked to provide additional proof which I did. It has cost precious time but its well worth it if it means we can be a family here.

I think the primary job of the Embassy interview process is to determine if fraud does indeed exist. This is why I gave my opinion that maybe its best to be honest and forthcoming about everything before you get to your interview.

Thank you for your good wishes. They're appreciated. Inshallah your interview goes smoothly and your wait is short.
