hi i know this must of been answered plenty of times..but i could'nt find the suitable answer here..my question is my son had already gotten his American Passport back in Feb 2012..we are already set to go abroad in Nov..i know i have to head over to the Phil Embassy to get his exit pass..but do you think i should apply for his Phil Passport also? people are saying that it wont cost anything at the immagration when i reach the airport. is this true? i really dont see my son comming back to the Philippines in the future..is it worth the cost? If i don't plan to get his Phil passport how much am i looking to spend when we leave? another question is when i head to manila to get his exit pass do i need to bring him and his mother? how long will it take and how much should i bring along?..

To anyone

Thanks..your help is appreciated!

Check the stamp on his passport from last arrival in Philippines. If its BB then he's allowed to stay 1 year from date of arrival. After which you need to pay for extension of visa. I paid Php6120 for 2months extension and ICard for my daughter.

Go to bureau of immigration website for details.

A PI passport for your child is cheap!Regular Processing (15 working days): P950.00<LI>Express Processing (7 working days): P1,200.00

If your child is in the PI with only CRBA/US passport, you need to make sure you get your child his/her PI passport if you do not your looking at costly fees from the BI (Philippine Bureau of Immigration) exit permit and or late fees, when the child exits the Philippines. One plus is with both US and PI passport your child will have Dual Citizenship, with out hassle of paper work/fees down the road.

is it worth the cost? Yes

how much am i looking to spend when we leave? By exit pass fee I presume you are referring to the airport terminal fee. At Ninoy Aquino International Airport,

"DO CHECK AND MAKE SURE ALL FEES ARE CURRENT"

At Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the terminal fee payable is:

If your child is age 2 and under, you can ger a fee waiver

- 750 Php for international flights

- 200 Php for domestic flights

There is also a travel tax imposed by the government on individuals leaving the country irrespective of their destination. Those who are liable to pay this travel tax are as listed below:

A. Filipino Citizens

B. Permanent Resident Visa Holders of:

1. Immigrant Visa ? Quota (13)

2. Immigrant Visa ? Non-Quota Permanent Resident (13A)

3. Children of Immigrant Mothers (13B and C)

4. Returning Filipino Resident (13D)

5. Returning Resident (13E)

6. Returning Former Filipino Citizen (13G)

7. Temporary Resident Visa (13A)

8. Foreigners covered by Alien Social Integration Act of 1995 (RA 7919)

9. Recognition as Filipino Citizen (RC / RFC)

10. Permanent Resident (RA 7837)

C. Non-immigrant visa holders who have stayed in the Philippines more than a year.

Note: Non-immigrant visa holders who have stayed in the Philippines less than one year are not subject to pay the travel tax.

The taxes paid will be divided among the Philippine Tourism Authority, the National Parks Development Committee, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Commission for Higher Education and the General Fund of the National Government for government programs.

I don't think he'd be ask to pay anything if he uses his US passport.

Im guessing your son was born in the Philippines and just applied for a US Passport since he has US Citizen parent. Is that right? Just show his BC at the airport. he wont be asked to pay anything.

Exiting the PI on a US passport and not pay anything WRONG

OP, your getting some irrelevant and poorly informed advice from members.

This was the method ( option for avoiding BI fees) I used for my daughters exit from the PI! Cost involved other then a PI passport zero.

If you follow what I posted, “If your child is in the PI with only CRBA/US passport, you need to make sure you get your child his/her PI passport if you do not your looking at costly fees from the BI (Philippine Bureau of Immigration) exit permit and or late fees, when the child exits the Philippines. And the child is two years of age or under and you get the terminal fee waiver, it will cost you zero, for both Philippine Bureau of Immigration fees and terminal fees when the child exits the PI. The child will exit with the PI passport, just hand the BI person at the airport both passports, they will understand and when entering the US use only his US passport.

my son has been here since birth 2008... we registered him (CRBA) in Feb 2012 he received his passport the first week of Feb.

we just came from the DFA with the requirements for his dual passport..now their telling me i have to get an oath of allegiance for my son and some other requirements..did you have to do the same for your child? Can i not just apply for the Phil.passport without the oath?

btw with the fees, im refering to is when i go to manila and get his exit permit how much will i be looking to spend? with the phil passport or without and just his US passport..

I don't have the answer, I did all the CRBA and PI passport stuff when my child was 4-8 mo.old, and never had to pay any BI exit fees, penalty fees when she leaving the PI. I could not find any answer on the PI Bureau of Immigrations website, however I did a Advance Search on VJ and found a somewhat same situation as yours, hope this helps answer BI fees your question!
