Am I able to change consulates? Its my understanding that there are two in Canada (Montreal, and Vancouver) Word is Montreal is slow and Vancouver is quick.. since I live in Ontario they will send me to Montreal I'm assuming but I am willing to travel to Vancouver if it means quicker processing. Is this a pipe dream? My visa was just approved this week.

I just found a similar thread, sorry for the duplication..

Lloyd Parlee,

There are actually 7 US Consulates in Canada, and one Embassy.

If your Visa is already approved, it is just a matter of having the Visa installed in your passport and picking it up? What is the rationale for changing now?

Do you mean your initial petition was approved (i.e. you've received the NOA2)? That petition isn't the visa (which is granted if you're approved at the consulate interview). That may be lending to William's confusion. :)

In any case, the location of your interview is determined by where in Canada you live. For a K1 visa, Montreal serves Atlantic Canada, Quebec, and Ontario. Vancouver serves Manitoba and all provinces west of it. Not sure about the Territories, but as you're in Ontario, it's pretty cut and dried that you'll be going to Montreal.

Electricity is really just organized lightning.

Most people would like to transfer from Montreal to Vancouver because the delay time in getting an interview in Montreal ... Vancouver will issue an interview date about a month after you send them all the info where Montreal can take 2 - 3 months to get an interview date ...

If you look at the Canada Forum you will find a recent post regarding this exact scenerio ...
