Hi people

I am new to this forum and have been waiting anxiously for my k1 visa which was filed on 6 June 2012. I recived NOA1 on 8 June 2012 and have been waiting for the NOA2 ever since. My application went to the Vermont Service centerwhich i think is a pretty slow center. I saw the immigration website today and it says that as on 31 august 2012 they r doing March 5 2012 applications. Does anybody has an idea that how long they usually take for the approvals.. Did anybody got an approval who filed for their applications in April or May 2012. Is there anyway to expediate the case as we were planning for our marriage in December 2012 but now i think there is no way we will be together. Kindly let me know what can i expect from Vermont service center. Also california seems to be processing really fast. Can they transfer my application to that place. is there any way to do that. Sorry if i seem ignorant.

my thing is the reason why it took time for them to review our papers because lack of staff that would've do it.. u think so?

Lack of staff more than likely plays a part.

I got my NOA1 in July so it will be 6 months in January for me. I know I have some time to wait, but it is very scary hearing about other people's experiences and how they have waited longer, I just hate the unknown. I think it's just luck, luck and more luck in terms of when we will receive our NOA2's. I looked on Igor's List and saw one July 2012 filer already approved! So I suppose there is a bit of hope for us. I think its so unfair though with people filing way back in January and still not hearing anything, something needs to be sorted there. I pray to God I don't get an RFE as I know this slows the process. I am trying to be ahead of myself (and optimistic). I am in the middle of getting all my vaccinations and sending off for my Police Certificate next week. I have also printed all the forms I will need when I get to the next step, so I will be filling them in shortly. I feel for all of you and hope we all eventually get through our journeys.

WOW! You guys are WAY over due!!!

Have you called anyone?

I have a service request in and I called today which is 25 days after request was filed and the answer i got was your case still has not been reviewed at this time and she did state that there was an inquire made by a senator on my behalf. What can you do but wait and wait. The Fiancee is happy she went to Japan for three months on my dime for vacation. That will buy me a few more months of the waiting game.

It took us exactly 6 months to get our NOA2 from VSC. It's all worth the wait. Be a little careful about planning your wedding though. My fiancé and I are planning for a church wedding in the US. And it was a little stressful because the waiting was a torture. But we plan to have our wedding by March so we guess there's still enough time to prepare the next requirements then go through the medical and the interview. Once your NOA2 arrives, every thing will go fast than you expect..More stress but it will be all worth it in the end. :)

Good luck and God bless your journey. :)

Another question to ask all the people out there : when we get the I129F NOA2 my fiancee would be required to send the affidavit of support i864 (right)...what should be the annual salary that is enough for her to support me..Currently i read that poverty line is about 19000USD a year...My fiancee currently makes about 36k USD and her last tax filings show 32K USD....are we good for that ???

You could be fine. It is dependent on the petitioner's household size(financial dependents). Generally, form I-134 is used at the K-1 stage. I-864 is used at the AOS stage. In either case, 125% of the poverty line for respective household size is the guideline. You can find this guide at USCIS here: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=73c63591ec04d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD
