Having ties to your 'home' country is what the Consulate look at when making the decision. The more you have (school, property/assets and family), the more likely you are to receive a tourist visa. I would say that having a fiancee in the US would mean your application would be under closer scrutiny due to the fact you have motivation to stay in the US and not return home.

The chances of receiving a tourist visa from the US Consulate in the Philippines is slim though, based on what I've read on the forum. you might want to check out the Philippines regional forum for more experiences or tips to help you make a good package to send.

I applied a tourist visa last 2010 the consul ask me if I already been in the US I said yes thru a student visa, and now I wanted to go back and enter as a tourist and to attend my fiance's sisters wedding... He said that I might not go back to the Philippines if they will give me a tourist visa because my fiance is already there. In short he denied my application. Or if you really want to go to the US might as well get a student visa. Good luck!:)

Thank you Sherlyn and epsonderby for your replies. :) But i think it will be hard for me to get a student visa? How about a training there or an internship??

These are all non-immigrant visas and a denial for "immigrant intent" would be likely for all these categories should you not satisfy the interviewing officer of your ties to the Philippines.

A non-immigrant visa is just that; Non-immigrant. The problem for many legitimate applicants is that so many applicants before them have been approved, then abused their visas and worked and/or stayed. The COs look for evidence of ties to your home country - Things that would make it likely for you to want to return after your visit/education/internship.

Examples of ties to your country can really be anything - Common ones would be such ties as a stable job, ongoing higher education, property ownership, strong family ties etc.

Why does your fiancee have to wait 4 years to file a fiance petition for you? Why don't the two of you get marry now and apply for a spousal visa?

he is waiting for her citizenship, which will be 5 years because she divorced the American guy who married her on K1.
