She said that i should wait for almost 5/6 years for her to became a US citizen(naturalization)in order for her to petition me as a K1(fiance). I feel so helpless right now :( how can i speed things up? or if possible moved with her as soon as possible.what are my options? can i marry her when she spend some vacation here? :( I loved her very much even though i should say were still young. How can our Long Distance Relationship work? :((L)

True, it is very hard for you to get tourist visa. But, there is no harm in trying, there are times, without even much ties in the country, the USEM approves visa for LUCKY reason we never know.:)

Yes, it will take after 5 years for her to start filing for 129-F, since she needs to become a USC first. Since you mentioned that you both are still young, then, maybe it is also a test of love-- how much you still love each other over time / years. Yes, she could marry you maybe when she would have her future vacation. That is also good as when she is ready to file for you -- she will be filing a spousal visa by that time - that means, you maybe entitled to receive GC upon entry to the US, no more AOS needed as required in K-1 visa.

As to making work your LDR, it really depends on both of you. How strong and solid your relationship. Nowadays, communication modes are fast and reliable as there are cellphones and the Internet (call, SMS, IM, Skype, etc). Trust and respect are key ingredients to have lasting relationship. For now, I think you have to focus on your study or if you have graduated college, then you could start working and save for future.

No worry too much, if you two are really meant to be -- it will happen with God's grace no matter how far and long you both have to wait. Stay in love and always communicate with each other. God bless you and your girlfriend. :)

Yes you can get married here in the Philippines. Your green card holder-GF can file an F2A petition for you after you get married. Waiting time is atleast 2 YEARS. This beats having to wait for her to qualify for citizenship.

Only US citizens can file for K1/Fiancee visa.

I see.

As I've said earlier, you can get married here in the Philippines then she can file F2A petition for you. It will take atleast 2 YEARS to complete but I'd rather start the ball rolling instead of waiting for her citizenship.

Good luck!

Hi! Kelvin! I've been in your situation before. I had to leave my bf for 5 years and visited him once a year. But we are seeing each other soon. I filed for a fiance visa instead of marrying while on LPR. I have asked a lawyer and he said, it is faster for me to get him through fiance visa, which i think was true. My friend had chose to marry her bf 3 years ago (2009) and then filed for his petition while on LPR. And until now, she is still not with him. Her husband's paper has been at NVC since january, no word from them.My fiance is coming this yr or maybe early next yr, he got his visa already.

I suggest that you wait until she becomes citizen and have her file for fiance visa. I filed my citizenship nov 2011, got my certificate mar 2012 and filed fiance april 2012, my fiance got his visa sept 2012 just so you have an idea of the time frame.

Other thing that was suggested to me before was get married, then file for husband while on LPR then when eligible for citizenship, have husband's paper get adjusted for faster processing.

True love waits and i have always believed in that and it worked for us. How old are you? and how long have you been together?

It takes a lot of courage, faith and love to be in LDR. I suggest that you wait and see what happens in 5 years, if you guys can stay together because you don't want to get married then be not so sure because the process is really 5 years or more, whether you choose to get married to wait for fiance visa. Think about it. You maybe just in high emotions right now since she is leaving but hand in there..

I totally understand how you're feeling right now. We were together for 5 years before i left the US to work. It was the saddest moment of my life. Think about it, i would only text him for 3x a week since i got no phone or laptop yet, call once a week. But then, as i got more stable job, we end up with skype and worked pretty well for us. i would come home and visit every year to make up for the lost moments that we have. Well, he never tried for a tourist visa since i knew there wasn't any hope for that. We just waited and waited. You could try for a tourist visa but never mention that you're going to visit her because that could be a red flag and they would think you will stay there. tell them its for pleasure, like visiting disneyland whatever..

I'm sure it would take time for you to get used to the situation but if you really love each other, you will be together soon. 5 years is very long if you think about it, but get yourself busy and save more money in case the time of filing for fiance visa comes so she won't have to worry much about the expenses. Wait until your emotions are low and decide on what you would like to do. Just like what i said, you could do fiance visa when she gets her citizenship or get married in two or three years and apply for visa while on LPR. Fiance visa is faster based on my experience. Wait and see how your relationship grows while you're apart. it is very devastating esp the one year but it will be worth it. Think about it this way, if you stayed together until she gets her citizenship, you both can prove to yourself that whatever trials would come, you're both tested by time. There's too many things to happen in 5 yrs, don't rush on things. You're still young.

Sorry man,

i know how this feels to have your woman go miles away from you without even an assurance she will still be yours.

She will need to be residing in US for 5 consecutive years to become a citizen.if she opt to join the military, she could be citizen in 3 years.

Becoming citizen will help you get here faster as an immediate relative...That means you can marry her before she leaves to the States. If you are economically were exposed and don't look like somebody who is running away from his own country, you could apply to visit her in the States most of the time.

You can marry now before she leaves and when she applies on your behalf while LPR you will end up waiting eternally for your visa...

Weigh both scenario and decide what is best for you

Good Luck
