30-60 days after entry to the US.

Their endorsed immigrant visas serve as temporary proof of a green card for up to one year.

Yes, their endorsed immigrant visa is a temporary green card until the permanent one shows up, as I said.

They could enter and leave the same day if they wanted to.

How long does it take usually for immigrants with IR5 visa to receive their green card?

If the immigrant of IR5 visa just arrived into the country,he or she will be receiving a welcome Notice from USCIS in about 2 weeks and should expect the green card in about 30 to 90 days.

There is no fixed number of days and the process depends on how fast USCIS process new applicants documents.

Thanks for your reply. Can they leave US before they receive their green card?

Green Card Holders can leave and enter anytime.A new immigrant could also leave and enter anytime if the reason for the trip is an emergency.You can use the temporarily I 551 stamp in your passport valid for 12 months as your proof of residence in USA.

Let me put it this way. You are being admitted into USA because you want to make it your new place of domicile and get in and going out immediately without even reception of your green card does not show an impression you really wanna make this country your home.I will advise the new immigrant wait to receive his/her green card before traveling outside the States.And the immigrant cannot be away from USA for more than 12 months.

Contact the USCIS for advice on your case before you make any moves.

Entering on an immigrant visa and then leaving immediately will have no effect on your green card if it is for a short trip (under six months).

You aren't trying to win any popularity contests with USCIS or anyone else here, if you have pressing business requiring your presence overseas then that is that.
