If I want to eat healthy, I cook at home. I've given up on trying to eat healthy at any type of restaurant.

But that's disheartening because it's nice to get out, sit down in a nice setting and not have to fuss about the kitchen. :(

Oh, don't misunderstand me, I eat out. I just don't worry about whether what I'm eating is healthy. Eating out for me is the time to splurge! :D

Here's my motivation to eat tuna for the next week... :P

Yeah, I think Fat ####### should definitely stick to eating in.

"I can't stop eating. I eat because I'm unhappy, and I'm unhappy because I eat. It's a vicious cycle. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's someone I'd like to get in touch with and forgive... myself."

Hehehe yeah that's what I was talking about... we used that website a lot when I was in college because there was a Chipotle very near our favorite drinking spots. We started to all experience Chipotle-related weight gain immediately after it opened... :)

Yeah, shortly after finding out why I was getting a chipotle butt, I changed over to the burrito bol, lined with the lettuce and just a hint of the rice, cutting down on all the goodies on it, but it just ain't no Chicken Burrito!! it's a lettuce salad pretending to be a chipotle burrito. I just decided to make it more of a *special treat* once in a while cuz I was eating them a lot!!

God I miss my Chipotle chicken & black bean burrito, extra mild salsa, a drizzle of the Hot

it was when I used the chipotle calculator, that I knew I was eating it a bit too frequently!!

when I calc'd the one I loved to eat, it was scary

Wowzers, 3482 in sodium is scary but almost fitty in fat? ouch

Holy Cow! :o Caladan was right! OMG! That's it. I'm back to my can of tuna in a bowl with mayo for lunch. That's a lot of friggin sodium, not to mention the fat! :o

As for fat, FDA recommends that less than 1/3 of your calories be from fat, and women should get about 1800 calories a day and men about 2200, IIRC. So I mean, if you eat something low-fat and not terribly high-calorie for breakfast and dinner, then 1200 calories with a bit over 400 for fat at one meal is okay. It's not particularly super-healthy, but it's not unhealthy either.

Pretty soon even organic isn't going to be healthy. the lobbiests for a few large food manufactureres had the FDA/USDA lower the standards of what is required to be labeled "organic"

There's a couple of articles about it posted at my blog, prompted by someone at another forum I frequent saying that it was Wal-Mart that did it, I had to go looking for more info. It was actually Kraft, Dole and Dean Foods, Wal-Mart just tagged along after the fact.

So yeah, it may be healthier now (except for spinach) but who knows in a few years time what the hell organic will mean :P

Don't worry about the fat in food there is Lipator. I had 10W30 blood and with basically doing nothing but taking 20mg of Lipator everyday it's down to 195.

What's the side effects?

I haven't had any that I'm aware of. I go every 6 months to have my liver function and cholesterol checked, but after 2 years not a bit of trouble. Now the doctor had started me off on another drug and I was getting pain in my arms and legs, so she switched me to Lipator.

It's unhealthy any way you slice it, due to the sodium level, and, well, the opportunity cost for those 1200 calories. Not a lot of nutrients per calorie, nor a lot of lean protein. I'm not saying that you're going to hell if you eat one, but calorie-wise, you'd be better off with a Big Mac and a small fry, and no one thinks that's healthy.

It's also relatively unlikely (just playing the odds) that if you eat a 1200 calorie burrito for lunch that you're going to come home and be satisfied by half a chicken salad and started off your morning with an egg-white omelette. More likely the person stops for coffee & a bagel somewhere (check out the Starbucks calorie counters), probably has a Coke or Pepsi with that burrito (all the sodium makes you thirsty), grabs a snack at the office sometime, comes home, and tries to eat or prepare a normal dinner with the family.

Get the burrito occasionally. Or only eat half.

Lipitor has been great for lowering cholesterol, but it's not as though the only side effect of eating unhealthy is high cholesterol.
