Hi all,

I was going to go to the post office this morning and send off my advance parole application, but I've run into a problem trying to work out exactly where to send it!!

I've sussed out that I filed my AOS at a field office (Chicago) and it says to mail my application according to the filing procedures for that office. Trouble is, I'm not sure exactly what filing procedures they're referring to.

:help:

The best thing to do is apply for your AOS/AP at the same time ... They are sent in the same package to the Chicago Lockbox ... Also if you want to apply for EAD you would also put it in the same package ...

K-1 VISA
08-05-06 - Married in Sycamore IL

AOS / EAD
08-24-06 - AOS/EAD mail to Chicago (Day 1)

11-06-06 - GC & Welcome Letter arrive in Mail (Day 75)

I-751
09-23-08 - Sent Package via USPS (Day 1)
01-02-09 - Received GC in mail (with wrong Resident Since date) (Day 101)

We filed the AOS and EAD a couple of months ago. Couldn't afford the filing fees for all of them so figured those two were the most important. Now we can afford the AP, we're doing it now.

ahhh sorry I didn't notice that in your signature or timeline ... I am not sure where you file the AP after your AOS is in progress ...

I'll leave that questions for some of the experts on VJ ...

If you have access to the internet you can efile and that will ensure they get it. You will have to send an additional form to them to supplement the application. But it very easy.

There is something about that process that makes me nervous. I've heard too many stories about paperwork not being transferred correctly, or lost. Also submitting it electronically and having to send in paperwork separately just presents one more opportunity for something to go wrong. It seems safer with the idea of having the whole application in a single envelope, to be opened at a desk by one person :)

I already checked there, several times. As we have already started the AOS process, I did not think those iinstructions applied. I got the impression those instructions are referring to those who are applying for AP at the same time as AOS.

Please see this Press Release for more on the subject.

If you are applying for Advance Parole (permission to reenter the U.S.), and do not fall under any of the I-485 categories listed in the November 19, 2004, Direct Mail Federal Register Notice, send your application to the District or Sub-Office with jurisdiction over your place of residence, or to the Service Center if your case is pending there.

This is on their webiste close to the bottom.
