Well, I am a Tigers fan and have been all my life - the 1984 World Series being one of the top moments in life so far, below getting married but above college graduation and career promotions.

That said, I am not getting emotionally invested in this because they have been too inconsistent and have done everything the hard way this season. I will enjoy our divisional win (only the 5th time it's happened in my lifetime)and Miggy's triple crown win (only time anyone has done that in my lifetime).

When they blew their 2-0 lead against the A's I prepared for the worst, thank God for Verlander

I am glad that if they fail against the Yankees, I will be out of the country but I remain cautiously optimistic.

Right on. I do miss Ernie though.

I was so sad to wake up today on my vacation in France and read about Derek Jeter's injury.....so sad

What a crying shame!

My mom was over last night to watch the game. She literally giggled as Jeter was being helped off the field.

Well, the Yankees certainly made that interesting there for 10 minutes in the top of the ninth.

It's funny just how excellently well baseball works as a radio-only game. The only other sport I watch, F1, wouldn't work at all as a radio show. :)

That's very true. And it's funny how in spite of all the options with internet streaming and what not, it's still very enjoyable. I was a baseball junkie as a kid, so any game that was not on television I would listen to on the radio (commentated with the deep, sonorous voice of Ernie Harwell) so I guess I have a lot of positive memories associated with it.
