Hello Everyone,

In May 2012, my husband applied for his passport renewal in Pune Passport Office. His passport was originally from Chennai but he has been living in Pune for 4 years so he had to apply there. In August, they closed his application with out issuing his passport and no reason was given. They asked him to reapply. He reapplied in September and went to the passport office for an interview yesterday. They rejected his application saying that the documents are not sufficient. All documents he submitted were correct. Now we do not know what to do.

Does anyone know someone working in Pune passport office or good passport agent who can help us? NVC will not transfer the case to India and schedule the visa interview date until I submit a copy of his new passport. My husband has been waiting for his new passport since May.

Please provide some guidance and help. Thanks.

Hi AugHem,

What documents are they saying that were not proper? If you can be specific about that point, we might be able to help you further without you having to get an agent involved.

You can do a google search for Passport Pune Agents and see if you can find someone who could help. I did a search and here is something I found. I don't know anything about them or their services though: Passport Helpline

Suleka and Just Dial would be a good resource as well for finding help.

However, if you would rather, there is a complaint section on the Pune Passport website. Have him try taking this route first.

He's going to need to physically go there and attempt to speak with the highest Officer possible to get this resolved quickly. Be sure to take every scrap or piece of proof available.

If all else fails and he's done everything in his power to get this taken care of or is not getting a response from anyone on how to resolve this, then tell him to (in person and with witnesses who are friends) ask the Passport Officer in charge if he would like for you to go to Pune Mirror to do yet another piece on the incompetence of the Passport Regional Office.

They were featured in the Pune Mirror this past month for slow and non-responsive issues. :bonk:

Hi AugHem,

My husband just suggested, if your husband is working for an IT Company here, they usually have Agents that help with that for employees. He wouldn't need a reason other than his passport is nearing expiry and he needs to get it renewed. Have your husband check with his company's HR for the name of the Agent that they use.

Good Luck!

Thank you both for your replies. The problem was the address proof documents. My husband prepared the documents again and reapplied with the help of an agent. He just got his passport today. Now he needs to get the police clearance certificate.

I had a Bangalore passport and I got my Police Clearance Certificate from Pune as I had been living there for 6 years.

I tried to get one on my own but it was hell and I finally went through a passport agent.

If you need an agent, try the one adjacent to the passport office, in front of Baba food mall. If you're in a real hurry to get the PCC, you can message me. I spent a good part of 2 months to get the dreaded PCC.

All the best.
