Hi. At the moment I'm in the process of AOS (waiting for GC approval) and would like to bring my mother to visit us here in USA next year because we are planning a small church ceremony. I already had approved the AP - EAD and as I plan to visit my country at end of year so I would give the letter in hand to my mom so she can go to the embassy for the tourist visa interview.

Along with the form that she needs to fill out for this tourist visa, what other documents we should gather from our side? Invitation letter only? Do I have to write a joint letter with my husband inviting her? Does the letter need to be notarized?

Anybody has a good sample of invitation letter?

Thanks anybody for the help.

All you can do is invite her to your celebration. She needs to go to the interview and prove strong ties to home.

When we invited my wife's parent to visit us for the birth of our first child, we went directly to our congressman office for a recommendation letter in addition to my request/letter to the embassy inviting her parents to visit us. Although his/her letter does not mean you will get the visa approve it could/will bring light to the documents/interview.

My wife's parents are of older age, had their finances in order and their interview was with little problem.. but I have seen thought other individuals of different position to have less problems if financial support from the invitee is provided.

Hope I answer part / or the question

Hi. Just one question: when you and your wife invited her parents to visit USA, was she already a green card holder or in way to get it? I ask this because I only have the EAD/AP for the moment... I should get the GC in a few months hopefully

She had already received the GC.. but since you already received your AP & EAD makes you a GC Holder, it all a matter of receiving the actual card.

Although you may go throw the process of invitation, letters, etc etc, the applicants [your parents] must submit all their requirements for the interview. Let me give you two cases [real cases - my wife's and a friend of her]

1- my in-laws are over 60 years old.. they do have her finances in order and they were able to proof strong ties.. I wrote a personal invitation letter to my in-laws and we decided to ask our congressman for a letter of invitation as well. The congressman office send that letter directly to the embassy and copy to you.. letter is fax [i believe a day or two prior interview].. my in-laws were approved, 10 year visa.. the invitation letters dont guarantee approval - by the way..

2- My wife's friend.. also invited her mother for the birth of her twins, her mother is in the early 50s, unemployed and with no financial ties in Brazil.. However, the invitation to them also included a financial responsibility advising the embassy all expenses are being finance by USC husband. They also requested a letter from the congressman office.. Visa was approved - 10 years..

I dont know your case nor I know how visas are processed/handled in your country.. but my personal experience and the other couple are positive. I am not saying they all work the same way nor I am telling your case is guarantee.. just wanted to clarify as many people will take it to heart..

Hope all works well for you..

I really appreciate your response. My mother is in her early 70's and retired in Argentina so at least to me its very obvious that she is returning to her country as she would not want to lose her retirement plan at all, so I'm thinking of getting also proof of her retirement etc and from there we will see what happens. Thanks a lot for sharing those 2 real cases.

Have proof that your mother will go back to her own country after the wedding.

We will start getting all the proof (step by step). :)
