I-94 for Employment Authorization Verification

I applied for the 10-year renewal of my permanent resident card and received a card in the mail. Unfortunately, I have no idea where the card has disappeared to and am starting a new job soon.

Is the I-94, stamped with a temporary I-551 stamp, sufficient to establish both identity and employment authorization? I-9 list is rather ambiguous about whether it is.

Thanks.

Do you mean you never had a use for a drivers license? A unrestriced ss card and a state ID will also work.

I've never had a use for the SS card either so I never went to get one. I tried to get a state ID/license but the expiration of my stamped I-94/temporary I-551 was within 60 days. My passport was lost and is being replaced.

So how did you get your social security number for taxes and such, they mail you a card. Have you been hear for more than 10 years without obtaining an id card or a ss card? I do not know how you functioned for so long without. (based on you saying you have renewed a 10 year card).

I the above is true then you will need to obtain a replacement card, cost's money. But in the meantime you should make an info pass appointment and take your appoval letters, passport etc and ask for a new stamp. Take this to the ss office and get a card. Then get a state ID.

I have my SSN. Presumably, I got an SSN card when I entered the US as a minor nearly two decades ago, but I haven't physically seen it ever and my parents don't have it anymore. Unfortunately,it would be impossible for me to get everything within the timespan needed for my employer to follow federal employment law. I've already made an InfoPass appointment for next week but I don't think I can do much besides get another I-94 while filing for a new card.

That leaves two options:

1) Find my green card this weekend

2) Figure out if the stamped I-94/I-551 is sufficient for employment authorization and identity verification. Has anyone successfully used their I-94 to prove EA?
