sending I-184 before receiving in mail

I see that many have sent the I-184 bill in before receiving it in the mail.

How is this done, and how do you know when it can be done. Every time I call NVC I got the same answer

7 times about 2 to 4 weeks, and we will send papers to both of you...blah..blah..blah

Can some one let me know ...how to know when you can send it in before it is received please. If this is a

time saver then I am in, just want to know how. I am sure others woud be helped by this as well.

Thanks...

I just sent my I-864EZ yesterday using the online fillable form from the USCIS forms page, the James' Shortcuts for the Federal Tax Release form and the "shortcuts" Bar Code sheet from the pinned info. I included IRS tax return transcripts for 3 years and a cover letter. I banded the package with the Acco clip at the top, wrote the case number on each sheet at the top right corner, and sent USPS Priority Express. The bar code generation thing was slightly tricky for me, but it seemed to work fine. The added step of erasing the "powered by ID automation" and copying from the bar code generation page to MS Paint and then erasing what shouldn't be there and then copy and pasting to the MS Word doc was fun. I was severely cross-eyed after checking and double checking the actual bar codes against the "real" bar code on my IV fee bill. It's a match. (I also printed my DS230 bar code sheet while I was doing all of this.)

How did I know when to send? I called NVC to speak with an operator and she told me that the I-864 package was generated on 10/23. I don't expect to see the actual package until next week. Everything else I have been receiving from NVC has been postmarked about 3-4 days after the generation date, and then it's almost a week after that for it to arrive in my mailbox.

there is a timesaver called James shortcut found here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=117

according to the shortcut you wait until the i-864 has been generated. to do find this out, you speak with an operator to get the latest info about your case. once the i-864 has been generated, you can mail in the self generated documents. but you must follow the instructions exact or risk have it RFE. i've followed it so far and have been successful. i saved at least 3 weeks versus waiting for it in the mail. i'm doing CR1 visa though, not sure if it will apply with K3. maybe someone else will chime in and share if it works with K3 as well

Ooops, sorry, I jumped the gun a little. You haven't received your AOS fee bill yet. I just waited until it arrived in the mail and then sent the fee by regular USPS First Class. I wasn't in a rush then, but decided to kick it into high gear when I received the IV fee bill. There is no shortcut for the IV fee bill. You need to wait for that to arrive because the bar code has extra digits following the case number and it can't be duplicated using the shortcuts. The NVC automated status message told me when the DS3032 and the AOS fee bill was generated. We emailed the Choice of Agent right after that. See our timeline.

The question I'm trying to get answered is how do you know when?

As I had stated, I have called them only to get the we are sending you papers...

Am I simply talking to very poor operators who will not tell me if the papers have been generated?

I want to know how you know when they have been generated, and every operator so far has said the same thing over and over. But none will tell me if they are generated..

Do you have to ask someone specific about being generated or what?

I have had lousy people who are not nice, not even caring every time I call, but this is at night, maybe they are soon to leave and angry, but i have gotten nothing. In fact had to call three times just to get them to give me a case number, even after asking them, and got a number on the third night I called, they are almost worse then USCIS. So if you can answer this, I would be eternally greatful.

The responses you are getting from the operators is because nothing has been generated yet. When something is generated, they will state so when you call.

Thank You so very much Lorelle:

As usual you are a straight and to the point, and without fault generous in your knowledge.

Thank you for your reply. I do make it a point to reasearch first and ask second.

It's always nice to see replies on topics, and hope to be as helpful to others as your self.

God Bless ,and thank you. Hope is all well with your family, and again my thoughts to you and yours.

Have a great day...Randy

The responses you are getting from the operators is because nothing has been generated yet. When something is generated, they will state so when you call.

Yes, you need to ask very specifically "on what date was the I-864 generated," etc., and they will tell you, if indeed it has been generated. As aussie says, they will generalize (wait patiently for sixteen more weeks) if the form or bill has not been generated yet. Try to be very pleasant even in the face of unpleasantness, and they will sometimes respond more favorably, or at least that has been the case for me. The new wrinkle in our case has been that the I-129F (K3) track was approved Oct. 12th by NVC and sent to the embassy, while I am still going through the motions with the NVC on the approved I-130. I've been rushing to complete the DS156 and DS157 forms and getting those to my wife, and trying to make sure all is ready for that (K3) track. I hope everyone here has great luck--we've been feeling very fortunate lately on the (comparatively) swift approvals and we hope the embassy doesn't slow things down too much for us...

God Bless,
