Hi, I wonder if marriage based 2 year conditional green card holder can work as an flight attendant hired by foreign airlines and traveling LA and Asia 3-4 times per month. (It's LA based and each trip will be 3-4 days.)

I know that we can freely travel abroad with conditional green card since it's same as 10 yr ones, but I wonder if it's ok to travel that much and spend almost half of the month abroad as a flight attendant. Please let me know if anyone (green card holder) works or worked as a flight attendant before.

Thank you.

Yes, you can do this. As long as your permanent address is the US it is perfectly legal. There are a number of Canadians who live in the US and travel to work in Canada every day. There are also a number of GC holders who attend school in other countries. The key is that the US is your home base.

Hello,

Yes you can be a Flight Attendant of any based American Commercial Flight with your 2 years Green Card. Some bigger Airliners would prefer you have a 10 years green card and some security clearance to be able to work with them but you still can work as flight attendant if you meet the right people at the right time.

Good Luck

thank you. I mostly will fly between US and Japan and I remember that we should be staying in the US for certain amount of time during the conditional green card period to apply for the permanent green card later. i think i will fly 3 to 4 day trip to japan every week and is it still ok and qualified to apply for the permanent green card?

There is no difference in rights and responsibilities between a 2-year GC and a 10-year GC. You don't get to stay outside the US more once you have the 10-year GC. They are both Permanent Resident Cards.

So I am hoping you can help.

I moved to the US 18 months ago (got a green card via family). I was a London based flight attendant for a UK carrier.

At the time, they were offering unpaid leave. So I took it. They are calling me back.

I was worked long haul. I flew to the US a LOT.

Where does this put me with my status in the US? I am thinking of requesting a part time contract, so that I can continue to work here in NYC part-time.

I don't want to quit the job flying, but I most definitely do not want to give up flying just yet.

I called USCIS and they didn't seem to think there would be a problem. . .

Don't worry if you don't know the outcome.

Let your highest ideals guide you through the process.

In the end, it's your integrity that will have the most impact on your happiness.
