Hi VJers,

I sent in my application packet for AOS in late August. I am expecting to get my EAD before weekend cos I expedited it and it got approved. I know I should be getting notice of interview any time from now hence this post. I have all my evidences including lease, bank accounts, insurances, bills etc. We have been taking pictures for the past 1 year any where we go to maybe to visit friends, parties, my wife family members, at home , vacations and special occassions. Unfortunately, our camera containing over these 200 pictures was stolen from my wife yesterday. That was also where we had all our wedding pictures.

I am so disturbed as I am typing because I don't even know how I can explain this when we go for interview. The only pictures of both of us that I can think is just those ones she has on her phone that she took randomly, which is not even up to 10, that has like 3 of our wedding pictures. What do you all suggest? Should we start taking new pictures now before we get the interview notice? How many pictures can we possibly take within a month that will be suitable for interview? Should I also explain to the Interviewer about what happened to our camera? I will appreciate any suggestions and advise.

Pictures are additional evidence but are not required. Anyone can fake a picture. As long as your marriage is legit, then there's nothing to worry about. You seem to already have a lot of strong evidence. You can start taking pics now but I doubt the IO will ask where are your pic from you started dating..

Goodluck and calm down...:)

Did you file a police report about the camera? Copy of that in case might be good, but remember they are secondary evidence.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

I brought almost 30 pictures to the interview, I offered to the IO and he said he didn't want to see any of them.

Not that I am saying pictures are not important, just want you to know you won't get denied because of lacking some pictures.

The evidences you listed are good enough.

Just that, secondary, as in not as important as other sorts of proof. You have already several good ones, such as the lease, bank accounts, insurance, bills, that sort of thing.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Interestingly, I felt our pictures were instrumental to our case. I brought about 30 that documented our relationship over about a 2 year span. The IO looked at them carefully and I got the impression that the interview as pretty much over after she saw them and was laughing and smiling at some.

However, I would definitely file a police report and also explain and I think you will be fine.

I'd be more worried about actually losing all those pics than how it might affect the AOS process. Sorry about the loss!!

File a police report and bring it to the AOS interview if anything, and bring whatever pictures you do have left. Pictures are what I like to call "bonus evidence" - They're helpful if used correctly, but by no means something that will make or break your case. USCIS seems more interested in evidence of financial mingling, which you seem to have.

It would be bad on your side saying you lost all of your photos  and don't have any now :o

They are important

Rather start taking photos now(without any dates printed), few imp ones for sure with each other family, common friends, at your home etc.

show them when asked, and additionally explain your lost photos.

my 2 cents.... :D

My wife did. FBI rejected her prints twice. I'm not sure why, I was there the first time and it showed pretty clear on the scanner.

They also messed up her name and country of birth on the EAD.
