I am currently on L1 visa but is very unhappy with my job so I am planning to resign. However, I met a guy here that I really love (US citizen by birth) and we intend to get married within a year. Can he start the Fiance visa process WHILE I am still in the US and then continue the process when I go back to the Philippines? I know that the interview will take place in my country of origin so how long does it usually take before I am scheduled for an interview? Just so I can plan when to resign. Also, how much is the usual cost all in all in applying for the Fiance visa? And lastly, say my visa is approved and I am able to come back to the US - How long before I can start working? Thank you very very much for the help.

PS: I just really hate my job that I do not think I can last longer and wait for another year in time for the wedding.

Well, true... I just figured we'd wait a little bit. But in your case, how long did it take you to get the green card? And how much did you have to spend for it? Thanks so much!!

Took me actually two months from filing for AoS - $1490 for filing fees + medical. Ask yourself if you really want to stay separated and go though pain of K-1 process ? Once you come on K-1, you'll have to do AoS anyway, maybe with no interview. Costs will not be much different.

Thanks so much for the info. That's a great insight. Wow, that was pretty fast... only 2 months! Could you send me a link somewhere to get the documents needed for the AoS? Or I could just look it up the net, I guess. Thanks again!
