I just got word that my fiancée's visa is approved!!! YIPPEE!!!

She arrived at the Manila Embassy at 5am (for a 730am appointment)...and did not return to her hotel until 2pm. She said they asked tons of questions, but the interview was over in 10 minutes. She was worried prior to the interview...but I was not worried because our relationship is real, she knows me well, and her plan was to simply tell the truth on everything. In the end, the Consular official said to her that we seem to have a great relationship...and that I look like Denzel Washington in my photos - LOL. Then he said "Congratulations - your visa application is approved".

Just have to wait for the visa to arrive now...which is agonizing in its own way as they can deliver in 3 days or 2 weeks. There is no way to know how long. But thank God the worst is over. She just has to collect her passport (with visa) and then get a CFO sticker in her passport.

I'll still be hanging out in this thread for a while as I want to witness success for all of my October brothers and sisters.

congratulations my friend!!! I knew this day would come. Lol @ consular official saying you look like Denzel Washington. Maybe the one in Jamaica will say that my fiancé looks like Dwayne Johnson (the rock). That was my impression when I met my fiancé. He's about same complexion, similar facial features, and since he decided to get all in-shape for me he had that nice upper body thing going on. Anyway LOL... I love Denzel Washington so of course I couldn't just ignore that part of your post.

Well I hope you will be around when I finally find out the result of my fiancé's interview. I hope he gets mail from the embassy tomorrow. I don't mind if the mail is late as long as the date is what DOS told me and everything else is fine.

Let us know when your fiancée gets her passport with visa in hand or when she gets here.

I hope that's the date as well. No mail today either so I called DOS a third time, explained my dilemma, and asked if they are sure of the date. I was told that they are sure and the DOS rep read a email correspondence to me that I had sent to the embassy requesting packet 3 & 4. She suggested that I email them again stating that I got the date from them but I explained to her that if she read further she'd see that I did that several times already so she said that I need to have him call. He's going to get that sorted out somehow.... Wow that's crazy! I didn't know they ask such questions. He knows the type of car I drive but I doubt he remembers the color. I will of to go over some more things with him then. Thank you for that insight.

Just an update to my "homies": .

My fiancee picked up her visa today - 8 days after her interview. She immediately got her required CFO sticker - same day...and will fly to San Francisco same day. (She had previously completed the CFO Guidance and Counseling session).

So...I'm very very excited ...but now I need to start cleaning my house before she steps in the door .

A few questions to you all:

Dee&Tino... did you ever get the interview letter...or confirmation from DOS and the Embassy of the interview date?

madison925 - What's up with your case? If they don't hurry...I'm gonna have to make a personal visit to the processing center and have a little "chit-chat" with the adjudicating officer myself .

Pagong - I assume you will be in your fiancee's armes by the time you read this as your flight should have been yesterday?

Hi Winelight. Nothing has changed, except my fiancé sent the release form to the Congressman and I bet they received it by now. I do know what to do except to wait; we have a service request that will end on the 20th. Anyway, I am so happy for you!!! Yes, the date that DOS gave me was confirmed by the embassy. My fiance did his medical Thursday after showing up without his passport on Tuesday. I wasn't a happy person on Tuesday but at least he was lucky enough to be squeezed in on Thurday.

My fiance did not get anything from the embassy. The letter was emailed to me and i informed him so that he could print it out.

Anyway, hope you and your fiancee been having lots of fun! Be sure to let us know about the wedding.

Am october 2012 filer, we got approve on 1st july but haven't received Case #. from NVC is (10 working days now) what should we do? and we were given till october b4 our K1 approval expires. Nigerian consulate takes like 3mnths to book appointment, am so angry @ NVC for the delay pls any help or explanation on the next step while I wait 4 NVC,.... Thanks

NVC typically gives 4 months, as I recall...but I don't see anything to worry about in your case. Embassies can (and do) extend the validity period for the approved petition for "valid" reasons. Your reason is about as valid as it gets. After you receive your NVC case number...you should write to the Embassy using the case number in the subject line...and explain the reason you need more time...maybe an additional 2 months? I have heard that extensions are often granted in 4 month increments.

Best to keep calling NVC to get the case number. They usually have it ready 12-15 days after petition approval from what I have seen in recent cases.

NVC typically gives 4 months, as I recall...but I don't see anything to worry about in your case. Embassies can (and do) extend the validity period for the approved petition for "valid" reasons.
