Not that it should make a difference, but was your RFE for something very simple...or complicated? Also, were there several items in the RFE...or just a single item? Still... should have made a decision in 60 days...but I'm trying to understand if they would have reason to do more background checks based on your RFE response?

I can only tell you what I would do in your case. I would be on the phone with my Congressman demanding they put pressure on USCIS for answers. If your fiancée makes it clear to the Congressman that USCIS is way beyond their promised timeframes...you may get the Congressman's office to call USCIS. The Congressman can even have USCIS send an email to the adjudicating officer to get them to finish the case.

I feel for you...and hope your case is resolved with approval soon.

This is sad. I agree with Winelight. You should definitely try the immigration specialist at your congressman's office. I actually spoke to the lady in charge of this sort of thing at my congressman's office today. She called me to make sure I was aware of the fact that my case was approved and wished me goodluck. See I'm not sure if they had something to do with the approval but I did contact them before I got the approval. I believe I contacted them either Thursday or Friday of one week and by the Monday or Tuesday of the following week I was approved. I'm sorry I can't just lookup the days and date to state it right at the moment but regardless of how it went it won't hurt you to try.

Winelight would you believe the embassy in Jamaica refuses to confirm my fiancé's appointment date with me? They emailed me back yesterday saying that they will mail out a letter to him when an appointment date becomes available. When I read this I immediately called DOS back and told them about the email. They confirmed the interview date they had told me before and said they don't know why the person that emailed me back made that statement. The DOS representative was able to read the email that I received from the Jamaican embassy prior to that last email to me and also told me that a letter was mailed from them to my fiancé on the 20th. I was amazed that DOS have access to all that information. I trust and believe the information I got from DOS but it will give me peace of mind when my fiancé finally receive communication from the embassy. He checked for the mail that DOS said was mailed to him on the 20th today and did not receive it.

My NVC letter arrived in the mail today (well probably been in the mailbox for a day or 2 since I stopped caring about the mail after approval LOL).

We tried contacting them already but that girl told us lies. She said because zI am from the Philippines, that's why it's getting so long. I don't know maybe she just dont want to do her job, but I will try tomorrow

There was a missing page of the divirce decree that we sent. It was just sinple, so simple that they could have make a decision in 60 days

wow sounds like she said that without even contacting USCIS first which is crazy. I hope that tomorrow you will get better assistance.

I'm not sure there are too many explanations that can be given for your delay. Either the adjudication officer is sleeping every day...or...there is some background investigation going on that is separate from your RFE.

My prayers are for speedy resolution on the petition.

Wow...what can I say?

Well...I guess I can say the same thing I said last time...that maybe the Jamaica Embassy is not well-run.

It's really shocking.

I'm also learning as we go...as I would not have expected DOS to have your appointment info...and if they did have it, it would be based on info from the Embassy. In other words...I envisioned the Embassy as taking the lead on K-1 appointments...with DOS in the background keeping track of things. Seems to be completely flipped here. It also seems that a lot of people don't receive things in the mail.

If you are able to make sense of what is happening here, explain it to everyone. It's all so confusing in your case.

I wish I could explain what's going on with the embassy in Jamaica but I haven't figured it out yet. My fiancé is planning on going to the post office tomorrow to check for mail. I pray that he will get some sort of communication from the embassy because they seem to not want to fully communicate with me. I specifically asked them to confirm the appointment date given to me by DOS AND to send me the checklist that was to be mailed to beneficiary. They sent the response below with an attached checklist and NO CONFIRMATION OF THE INTERVIEW DATE. It seems to be a secret! Now I'm just pissed off with them and I've decided to stop emailing them.

This was the response:

Please see the attached document as it lists all documents needed and links to the requested forms.

I noticed that on the form it says that my fiancé needs to pay the nonrefundable visa fee at a bank but I read somewhere that they changed that requirement in March 2013 and applicants are now required to pay at the embassy on the day of the interview. I think what I read elsewhere is true but seems like they didn't bother updating the checklist they sent me. I'm disappointed (especially since I was born in Jamaica). I believe they are still going to honor fees paid at the appropriate bank up to 1 year though so at least if we make a mistake with that it should be ok. I think I'll just suggest that he pay it at the bank since their checklist still say that. I get frustrated with this whole process because they don't even have a toll free number that my fiancé could call and actually find out information. Calling the embassy waste a lot of his phone credit. He said he tried calling before but every time his credit finish while listening to options and trying to actually speak to someone. Honestly, I think he needs to try harder but I'm trying to not be too hard on him. On the other hand, am I wrong for asking the embassy to confirm the appointment with me by email? The date that we were given is less than a month away so wouldn't most people want to be sure? SMH

Wow... even if I tried...I don't think I could make the interview process more confusing than this!!!

Do keep us posted.

I had been asked to update the group on my fiancée's medical exam Wed-Thurs (Manila time). She apparently passed...because they did not say anything to her to the contrary :-). She had been finished with her monthly period a couple days...so this did not pose a problem for her.

From other contacts (one that I know personally), K-1 visas from the Embassy at Manila are taking 1 to 2 weeks lately. I'm sure it happens faster on occasion, but one cannot count on it being faster. I had been hoping for 3-4 days...but I'll reset my expectations.

My passport is 'still with post', I think it's still in Manila embassy. I'm not expecting for it to move since its weekend tomorrow. Hoping by Tuesday.

Congrats in advance. One step closer.

Glad your fiancee did not have any issues with the medical. By monday you will know about the most important part. I wish my fiance's date was closer so that all the results could come in around the same time....

He did not receive any mail today from embassy so I don't know what to say...
