Based on what NVC told me (and also Pagong's recent experience)....it should take about 15 days from your approval date for NVC to receive the approved petition from USCIS and assign a case number. The estimate of NVC holding it for about 4 days (from the time they receive it) sounds about right.

You can call NVC and ask them about status. This is always a good idea as I have heard of some that did not receive anything by mail (lost in the mail???).

The best to you.

Guys!

I am an oct. 4 Filer. was approved last month.

Question is: How long does it stay at the NVC? it has been almost 2 months. The average is said to be 4 days. . . ???

WHat is going on?

I just called NVC and got my Case Number. They said it was just entered today. I received my NOA2 email May 28, so it took 13 days to get a case number from NVC. They said the case will be sent to the Embassy in about 3 days.

I'm very happy because with the case number... I can now have my fiancée pay the visa application fee at BPI in the Philippines...and then schedule the Embassy interview.

Did you ever try to call them?? If yes and they told you that they didn't recieve your file yet call uscis and ask for tier 2. And keep calling nvc everyday. Don't wait for the mail for MOST of the times they're not sending it. They said if you want a hard copy you should email nvc. In my case, we've emailed them 4x in 3 weeks time and still no email back from them.

Good luck.

They have received it.It is not lost

I have already called the NVC everyday for the past 2 weeks.

It needs to be processed and sent to the embassy. It has already been 7 days and nothing. So that was my question. why not 4 days. What is going on?

congrats on getting your case number before 15 days. When my fiancé and I get our number can I call embassy to schedule interview right away or do we of to pay the fee before we can make the appointment?

Hello again Dee&TIno.

The process for scheduling interviews varies from Embassy to Embassy. I am not sure which Embassy you must deal with?

I'm dealing with the US Embassy in Manila. The process for Manila requires you to pay the visa application fee through BPI (a Philippine bank). After payment, I can go online (or call the Embassy) to schedule the interview. Without an NVC case number and the payment receipt number, I cannot schedule the interview. They say they will mail/email the case number to you...but this can take days...and some people never receive it. In the case of the Philippines, you do not have to wait for the Embassy to receive the package from NVC - or wait for the visa application package. Once you have the case number...you can move forward.

The VJ forums probably have a forum for your country. I'm certain you will find country/Embassy specific information on the process for scheduling an interview related to the Embassy in that country.

Keep us posted...as we are all in this together!
