Tomorrow, April 22, is my 6 month mark. My timeline estimates my approval between April 29- May 6. I plan on spending the summer in Dominican Republic with my fiancé while he does everything he needs to do before returning with me. I work in education do I have summers off, but I wanted to have our wedding before returning to work for the new school year. Do you guys think we will have a June interview?? I truly hope so...

My wedding is completely done, all details, invites, decorations, guest list...I just don't have a date!!! I just want this wait over and done with. I want to get married. :"0(

The Vermont Service Center has done a handful of October filers already, hopefully you'll be next or within the next few days/weeks! If that's the case, I think you would be able to get your interview by June, because, from what I can tell, it seems that interviews are usually scheduled for 4-8 weeks after the NOA2.

Interviews are not automatically scheduled after NOA2. The fiance(e) must first make application for the K-1 visa. Only after everything in the visa application is complete will the Embassy or Consulate schedule a visa interview.

Prior to applying for the K-1 visa...your approved petition must first go through NVC. After this, the approved petition is sent to the Embassy/Consulate. NVC approval and transfer to the Embassy/Consulate can take 3 weeks...or so. If all goes quickly after NOA2...it is possible to have the interview in 8 weeks...but 4 weeks is highly unlikely. Bottom line is that visa interview scheduling is not in your direct control...and some Embassies/Consulates take longer than others.

Can anyone explain why there are a substantial number of CSC approved K-1 petitions with a NOA1 date in August, Sept, November, and December...and almost no CSC approvals for October? It's almost as if they lost all of their October files! VSC is a bit more orderly in how petitions have been processed. With CSC...it is essentially "last come-first serve". This is inherently unfair to October filers...and sets an ugly precedent for the future.

If you don't believe me, look at Igor's List for CSC approved K-1 petitions in October. There are only 4, but approvals for November and December, respectively, are 18 and 35!

I'm not a hip-hopster...but I gotta say "Wassup wit dat?". It makes no sense at all.

I don't understand. What do you mean I have to make the application for the K1-visa? Didn't I do that when I originally filed back in October?? Can you give me more information??

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!! Ideally, a mid-June interview would be perfect!! We have tentatively scheduled outlet wedding date for July 27th...if all goes well, we can go on our honeymoon after the wedding and return in time to get ready for the new school year.....

What you've done is filed a petition - it's not a visa application yet. The petition, if approved, allows the beneficiary to apply for a visa at their local consulate. That's exactly what everyone else on the K1 is doing too. You're currently waiting for Step 4 of the flow-chart - still in petition land, not yet visa application land: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

Wow...I'm so happy I found this website!! This whole process is crazy and doing it alone would be insane!!!

Ok so I've looked over everything on the link you've sent. As for the forms/application that need to be filled out, are all of these taken to the consulate on the date of the interview or my fiancé has to take them himself before the interview? If the latter is the case, is the speed of turning in the paperwork the determinant on how quickly you turn the paperwork in?

I read he reviews and I guess I misunderstood because I thought you file the petition, you wait for NO2, then he interview date, then you take all evidence and added forms to the interview...I guess I had it all wrong!!!

The Embassy/Consulate will mail a packet to you with full instructions. You have to complete some documents before they will schedule the interview. You cannot just "waltz" in at the interview with everything they have requested. A medical exam is also required. Bottom line: the sooner you complete what is asked of your fiance for the visa application...the sooner will be the interview. I think it is best to describe your part as not introducing unnecessary delay - rather than things you can do to make it go faster. I'm afraid to be too specific here as each Embassy/Consulate can slightly vary the process...and also what is required. Just follow the instructions in the packet you receive...and ask questions of them as necessary.

I got my NOA2 today. I filed Oct 31 at CSC. I can't believe it either. I thought October had gone into the blackhole. I wish and pray you all the best... I will stay on this website checking up to see if I can send letters to Ombudsman or Congressmen or other places to help all the others waiting out there. :) The wait has been the hardest of my life and I don't want to just leave this website full of a community that has helped so much! I will continue rooting and praying for you guys! I really encourage to just continue e-mailing congressmen, I emailed mine, never got a response but 2 weeks later have my NOA2. Also I emailed Ombudsman several times. I don't know what helped. Mostly prayer and believing on the name of the Lord Jesus... He will bless you and keep you in all things... think of trials this way... the depths of the trials that you are facing now are equal to the heights of mountains you will be able to climb later :) God Bless.

May 2010: Met Marcelo in Brazil.
August 2011: Revisited Marcelo in Brazil. Started dating =).
May 2012-August 2012: Another extended trip to Brazil to stay with Marcelo and his family.
October 25 2012: Sent I129F Petition.
October 31 2012: Received NOA1.
April 23, 2013: Received NOA2
June 11, 2013: K1 Visa Approved!!!!
