Tourist Visa and K1 visa

Greetings all!!

I am about to embark on the K1 visa journey for my fiancé based in Trinidad. We are so desperate to be together as soon as possible. From what it looks like, the whole process could take up to 9 months. I have been to trinidad twice to see him (we met in February), but he would also like to come and visit me in the US. The question is whether he could apply for a tourist visa while I start the K1 visa process-or should i wait to start the process until he receives his tourist visa (which will delay the whole process). Perhaps exercising some patience and focusing on K1 visa :/ Help!

Yes

He can apply, but the chances of approval are minimal or null.

The K1 visa shows the intent to immigrate and that's immediate red flag for the COs that interview for the visitors visas.

If you want to try, this is what you need to know:

  1. The application fee for the B2 visa will be lost as it's non refundable
  2. If he gets rejected, it will have no impact on the K1 process

I got a tourist visa when the K1 is on process and I went to visit my fiance without any problem. You just have to prove strong ties in your own country that is all they want to see. Good Luck
