Romney wins on performance, but loses on substance.

Romney dominated the conversation from the beginning, but offered absolutely no answers or facts to back up any of his points. If Romney told the truth, he'd be unstoppable

That was a very poorly moderated debate. Anyone could talk for however long they wanted, interrupt as much as they wanted, and determine who got "the last word" ... why was the moderator even there? He certainly didn't reign either man in.

Both were light on any form of substance. Both engaged in a distinct antithesis of factual content. Both were disappointing. :(

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

That sums up the election season pretty well!

PS: I knew Romney "winning" the debate would be the only way a Republican would start a thread about the debates ...

pssst, that's what a DEBATE is. All we ever get is Q&A sessions controlled by the media. It's about time a candidate grew some balls and said F-U to the network moderators!

I know what a debate is. You can attempt to talk down to me all you'd like, but it won't work. :)

Presidential debates are usually much more controlled than this was. The moderator made a comment about it himself.

That's all.

Not trying to talk down to you, just observed your observation thinking you didn't like the format. I was merely disagreeing saying it's about time. :)

So tired of the media controlled 2 minute answer debates. I want a discussion. I want a back and forth. At least Mittens was willing to stand up and "talk" even if that's all he was doing. Obama was trying to sit in the time frame where he didn't have to go back and forth. It is what it is, but the American people deserve a real debate. Not something that is 2 minute talking points.

What they really deserve is for Gary Johnson to be there as well, but BOTH candidates are scared to death of him.

The format is ridiculous, I agree. There's no way to state your stance on complicated issues in 2 minutes.

Romney spoke well and dominated the "conversation" ... it's unfortunate that the stuff that came out of his mouth didn't have much truth to it.

I'm excited to see how the next two debates go. Obama needs to stand up taller and speak up for himself when Romney's clearly stating something that's incorrect. I expect the next two to be a bit more emotional. I hope, anyway.

Anyone able to explain to me now how Mitt will accomplish a revenue neutral 20% tax rate reduction where the wealthy pay the same share of taxes and the middle class gets a tax cut or how he will cover pre-existing conditions w/o a any health insurance mandate (that's how he covered them in MA because it's really the only way to do it) or how private Medicare plans will suddenly and magically cost less than traditional Medicare where they have failed to achieve that since their inception? That's what his proposals are but I am none the wiser on how he actually gets there. Double fudge sundae diet is all Mitt had to offer tonight. He's quite the salesman on the stage but he won't answer any questions.

That's what I want to see. Romney seems to have all the solutions but absolutely no explanations or strategies. When he's specifically asked for details, he gives none. Drives me nuts.

I guess it's better to give solutions that are absolutely false and will never happen. Romney seems to know what a pain in the a$$ congress can be.
