Interview to Visa-in-Hand...How long?

Hubby's visa interview is Monday Oct 15. We were wondering how long from the date of the interview until the courier delivers the visa packet? Just wanting to get an idea before we book his final flight home :)

07/10: Met online, began exchanging emails, texts, and Skype
10/22/10: First time meeting in person!

03/17/12: Officially engaged in London!!

I-130 (IR-1/CR-1 Visa) Journey:

04/14/12: Married in front of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada!!
04/23/12: Mailed I-130 to Phoenix, AZ Lockbox
04/25/12: NOA 1, Priority Date, Routed to CSC
04/28/12: Check for petition cleared bank account
07/23/12: NOA 2
07/27/12: Petition arrived at NVC
08/15/12: NVC Case Number received over the phone, DS3032 email sent
08/16/12: IIN assigned
08/22/12: AOS Bill Invoiced and Paid, Sent DS-3032 email again
08/24/12: DS-3032 Accepted (email received from NVC)
08/27/12: IV Bill Invoiced and Paid
08/28/12: AOS Bill Shows PAID
08/28/12: Mailed AOS Packet
08/28/12: IV Bill Shows PAID
08/28/12: Mailed IV Packet

11/6/12: Green Card arrived in the mail!

I-751 Journey (Removal of Conditions)

07/23/14: Sent ROC Paperwork to CSC

07/25/14: NOA Received

07/29/14: Check for application & biometrics cleared bank

08/18/14: Biometrics Completed

Do not make travel arrangements until your visa has been approved, you never know what can happen at the embassy stage. The Dept of State says to not make any travel arrangements, leave employment or give up living arrangements until the visa is approved. My husband's visa was approved at the end of last week, we will not make any travel arrangements until he has the visa in hand!!! There have been countless threads from people who have lost money for plane fare because they jumped the gun.

I would wait til visa is in hand. Anything could happen and that is a waste of money to have to change the reservation if something happens i.e delay with delivery or with embassy sending it or being ready for pick up.

Most were told 7-10 days, but received the visa and passport back in less time.

USCIS Receipt of I-129F: January 24, 2012 | Petition Approval: June 15, 2012 (No RFEs)
Interview: October 24, 2012 - Review | Visa Delivered: October 31, 2012



Part Two: Entry and Adjusting Status:

POE: November 18, 2012 (at SFO) - Review
Wedding: December 1, 2012 | Social Security: New cards received on December 7, 2012.
AOS Package (I-485/I-765/I-131) NOA1: February 19, 2013 | Biometrics Appt.: March 18, 2013
AP/EAD Approved: April 29, 2013 | Card Received: May 6, 2013 | AOS Interview Appt.: May 16, 2013 - Approved Review Card Received: May 24, 2013

I know not to make any concrete travel plans until we have the all important visa in hand :) Just wondering how long it took people to get theirs after the interview so we have an idea.

I know exactly how anxious you must feel! I booked my travel plans because i had my interview about 2 weeks before my planned wedding date. - I spoke to someone on the phone who assured me that I would have my visa in hand before my travel date.

At the interview, they asked me if i had booked travel and I told them I had. Sure enough, they stuck to their word and the visa arrived the day before I was due to leave! But it sure caused a lot of panic and worry, so as mentioned above, if you can avoid it, don't put yourself through the stress i went through! :bonk:

Anyays, from my interview to receiving the visa, it took 7 days (5 working days) :thumbs: Best of luck to you!! :D

I have booked flights with BA and it is free to change...just have to pay any change in fare and if I waited i'd have to pay the higher fare anyways so figured I couldn't really lose out!! :thumbs: My interview's on the Thursday and VISA needs to arrive the following Thursday...it will!
