Dear all,

Just wanna share with you my good news! i went to the k-1 visa interview yesterday and i got my visa! :dance:

Let me tell you the procedure of my visa interview in the US Consulate Hong Kong.

I scheduled my interview at 1:30 pm yesterday. I arrived there at 1pm BUT I was told to wait in the wrong queue (the security guard outside the consulate was 'really helpful'. :angry: ). So initially i should be the first 5 who lined up for the immigration interview but then after wasting like 30 minutes to wait in the wrong queue... i became the 15th one (oh well i wasn't the only one. there're like 5 people who were told to line up in a wrong queue)...

ok so finally i got into the consulate. ONCE i went into the waiting room, i was told IMMEDIATELY to submit some documents (they're so efficient suddenly). I was asked to submit my medical report, I-134 original, tax return for the previous year( but still i gave them the employer letter and bank statement), receipt of visa payment, passport original & copy, I.D. original & copy, Birth Cert original & copy.and 2 passport photos (the staff asked me to retake the photos cuz 1 of my ears can't be seen! Luckily i could retake the photos at the machine nearby the consulate... but it's soooo difficult cuz one of my ears is actually very close to the side of my face. Help! :huh: )

Ok then i gave the lady my photos (luckily she accepted them this time). then i sat there and wait for like 15 mins. I was then called and the staff asked me some questions. She asked the name of my fiance, how we met each other, my job & his job, when we engaged, how many times we met, whether we had met each other's parents, our wedding plan, when i want to enter the US. That's what i remember :P. And that staff was quite nice cuz she saw that i had a lot of proof, so she said that i could just give her the evidence and then she would like to have a look and gave them back to me later. So i gave her my whole folder & some photos and waited... My talk with her was much shorter than the others!!!

Another 15 mins i guess. then i was called to sign forms DS156, DS156k, DS230 Part 1 and i waited again. Then after that they took my fingerprint. and i had to wait again.

After like 30 mins, i was asked to swear in front of the Consul... This part is the easiet :P. So this young consul gave me back my documents and asked 'which passport do you prefer your visa on?' then i knew i got the visa! :thumbs::lol:

All in all, i don't think the interview took as long as i thought. it's just around 4pm when i left the Consulate and most of time is just wait, wait and wait.

I hope my experience is useful to you all who're going to have interviews in the future. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!! :thumbs:

8/23/06 - rec'd packet 3 from Consulate

8/25/06 - sent packet 3 back to Consulate

8/27/06 - got confirmation email from Consulate, they rec'd packet three

8/27/06 - requested interview date via Consulate internet site.

9/1/06 - Checked internet site for interveiw date, it was there

9/25/06 - Interview date - APPROVED

9/28/06 - Visa in Zaeems Hand - YEAHHHHH

1/6/07 - leaving for USA

1/20/07 - Wedding Date

1/20/07 - MARRIED!!!!!

2/10/07 - rec'd certified copy of marriage license

AOS

3/13/07 - AOS package rec'd at Chicago Lockbox

3/20/07 - Rec'd Social Security Card

3/21/07 - Checks Cashed and Case Status online

3/24/07 - NOA1 Rec'd for AOS and EAD

3/27/07 - rec'd Biometrics appt letter - scheduled for 4/20/07 @ 11:00am

4/02/07 - "touched"

4/20/07 - had biometrics appt.

4/21/07 - rec'd letter stating case was transferred to CSC

5/22/07 - rec'd Case Pending at CSC email

6/25/07 - EAD card production ordered

7/7/07 - EAD "touched"

7/7/07 - AOS "touched"

8-6-07 - Rec'd EAD Card in the Mail

5-20-08 - AOS INTERVIEW - APPROVED - PASSPORT STAMPED

7-2-10 - Received 10 year green card in mail
