Any minority sport can have world champions, whether there is world wide participation in that sport or not. Being the best at something is always reason to cheer.

For us it would be equivalent to your team winning the World Cup. It's that important to a baseball fan.

their is other sports in the world that they have champions also that the United States does not have like Cricket.. I surely dont understand that.

At least the world champs this year is from the same division as my cubs..

The US does have a cricket team, YogiB. It's young and not very good, but they are at least trying to join the civilised world

this old chestnut -- there were are as many countries represented in the major leagues (just not representing their countries) as there are nations with top cricketers or rugby players.

Anyways, who cares? That's what it's called -- it's hyperbole from the late 19th century (when every thing was promoted as "the greatest" or "world's best")
