Your child is natural-born citizens of the Philippines way would you strip a-way his/her heritage and rights? . I think it’s a waste of time and your husbands thinking is not very logical or intelligent, anyways renounce the PI citizenship if that’s what you want.

Actually, the US doesn't encourage dual citizenship, and I say this because when I became a naturalized citizen a few years ago, I was told that I should give up any other citizenships I may have. Having said this, I know many people retain their foreign passports and citizenships. So, in your situation, you have 2 choices: return the Filipino passport to the embassy of the Philippines and state that you want to give up the citizenship. Or, just simply never use your Filipino passport or citizenship.

Dual citizenship or dual nationality is simply being a citizen of two countries. The United States allows dual citizenship

The subject we are talking about, has nothing to do with the above in bold however from what I have read as well, many who naturalize in the United States seek to maintain their original nationality as a matter of choice.Naturalizing citizens are required to renounce their original nationality, but this requirement has never been enforced.

I know of a few Filipino who have US citizenship through naturalization and hold dual citizenship through the Republic Act No. 9225 or the Citizenship Retention and Re-acquisition Act of 2003 is a law passed on 29 August 2003 which grants natural-born Filipinos who have lost their Filipino citizenship through naturalization in a foreign country, the opportunity to retain or re-acquire their Filipino citizenship.

As far as "Or, just simply never use your Filipino passport or citizenship." This would have drawbacks when traveling to the PI with the child.
