When I sent my divorce decree, I made sure it was the Final decree, which listed everything that was divided from the marriage. I went to the courthouse and they gave me a certified copy, the court clerk stamped it and it was signed at the bottom as a true attestion. I hope everything works out for you. And it was signed by the judge.

Yes,, it is 3 am still cant sleep, when looking at some other divorcee papers my Husband gave me early on still only sig was From a deputy registrar. Wirh an origi.al seal And eletronic sign From judge. Why me? It breaks down everything.assets amd all. Also,.she claimed untrue things to win The assets in her favor. He was still granted house,.The.car ect... When i say i want to give Up i mesn this horriable process not my Husband. We talked, this draining our funds. The $10,00 Ja was for this set of papers only,.not The divorce. The atty representing my Husband cost way more than 10,000 ja... The church married us on these doc,.so is my marriage not legal??? Worst part when i got back From ja And saw an attorney. The ex wife never divorced her us Husband. In The eyes of jamaica The marriage was legit And The divorce supposedly too. Who knows... What is going on but i have no papers with The signature of a judge only eletronic sigs amd original sigs of The supreme court depty reg.

IMHO and I may be wrong, you sent them kinda unfinished document - with no signature, which makes the docs incomplete.

They want you to send the complete document.

You may be correct!! However there is a signature from the Deputy registrar of the Supreme court in Kingston Jamaica.. I sent the following originals "CERTIFIED COPY DECREE ABSOLUTE" with all the stamps and seals and "true copy on it signed by Deputy registrar of the Supreme court. I also sent an original copy of "ATTESTED COPY DECREE ABSOLUTE" with the seal and the stamps, however this was not signed by anyone.

I just came here to help you. Probably my English is not good enough, but I know what I talking about. Listen it: Every legal document to have effect at foreign country should be: 1) Certified copy of the original with the signature of the competent authority, after you have this document you should go to FOREIGN AFFAIRS IN JAMAICA (Foreign Affairs will certified the last signature in your document), and after I could go to USA Embassy in Jamaica to certified the signature of FOREIGN AFFAIRS.

In another words you need in your document the signature of Foreign Affairs and after the one from USA embassy. I will recommend you to do the same procedure with the ORIGINAL and CERTIFIED COPY OF THE ORIGINAL. It is important to keep the original of the birth certificate with all legal formalities for a future use.

I do not think your document needs translations because English is the language in Jamaica. In cases when a document need translation the procedure is the same.

1) Certified copy of the original.

2) Foreign Affair signature

3) Embassy certification of the signature.

4) Translation done with a Certified Translator.

5) Certification done for a lawyer of the signature of the Certified Translator.

Hope it help.

Immigration will not tell you how you should exactly sent a document. I had the experience with a close relative applying to US immigration. She was in Asian country and with a divorce decree from the foreign country. I had big problems to make her to understand what legal document mean. She listened and everything when she fill up for green card, now she has it.

In Asian country she had the divorce decree, when to foreign affairs, after to certified translator. She did not went to the USA Embassy and still the document was good, but if you want to cover every possible problem is better go to Embassy where the document will take effect.

How did translation enter this mix, Jamaicans R english speaking with a local dialect (patois) all

documents, newspaper, books etc is in the queens English, no official Docs are in the local dialect

neitaher does a dictionary exists. Now,Y cant this atty go back and get the originl document signed by

the judge on day of divorce. NVC wants the one signed by the judge, there could be no divorce witthout a judge

Posted

Read my post above, the judge who signs the certified inormation is not the judge who granted the divorce.

Along with the judge name is his signature on the divorce decree?

You can go to the Ministry of foreign Affairs in New Kingston and have it Authenticated

the cost is $750. This will take 7days...........Good luck

This problem has been solved, therefore no more incorrect information is needed.

Jahwaree , sloppy court system in Jamaica.

Translation was not the problem, it would be nice if people would understand the country before you make inaccurate statements. Jamaicans speaks the Queens English, they were an English/British territory until 50 years ago.
