I am at a loss for words. I think now is a good time to write the ambassador a certified letter explaining this and the added cost, loss of work, travel, hotel,time....omg I just cannot believe this.

I am sorry

I had an experience in the Warsaw Embassy. Somewhat critical like yours where they really screwed up. Rather than the ambassador, who will likely do nothing, get a hold of the consulate officer in charge of visas. Don't remember the exact title. My problem was solved in 24 hours plus an apology. If your fiancee/husband is still there tell him to go and ask for this person, explain what happened and see if they can do something then and there. who knows?

Why is it that the Cairo, Egypt Embassy doesn't seem very professional?

The way they deal with people interviewing, the outright rudeness that is totally uncalled for and so many cases seem to have too many mistakes occurring. Sometimes you have to wonder if they are mistakes  We wish you both the very best (F)

I do not want to sound judgemental, but about 3 weeks ago, the Embassy was stormed, flag torn down, and replaced with an Al-Qaeda Flag... I understand that it wasn't you, but I'm sure that is part of the reason they are the way they are. It's a hostile environment with the hostility coming from both sides.

On a further note, I believe what happened to your husband was a absurd. I would be very upset if that happened to us. I wish you all the best.

Ciudad Juarez is arguably the most dangerous city in the world with 3000+ people being killed each year. A USC consular worker and her husband were assassinated with their infant daughter in the car along with a Mexican consulate employee's husband. And yet, things generally go off without a hitch at that the busiest consulate for issuing visas in the world. So your reasoning is flawed. Her case has been stuck in limbo for nearly a year which is well before US embassies/consulates were stormed in some parts of the muslim world.

Bombs have been set off outside of the consulate in Monterey, MX as well as gun battles near the consulate in Tijuana...etc. I have a feeling that your nonjudgmental opinion wouldn't feel so good if the situation in MX started affecting your visa processing in a negative way. BTW, why don't Mexican nationals undergo months upon months of AP. I "understand it's not them" but maybe if the shoe was on the other foot and the average MX filers were treated like narcos we wouldn't be so complacent and quick to accept sh*tty treatment. AP is, no matter what the explanation could be, a big black hole where you wait without any idea of when you will be with your loved one. I was lucky enough to have my husband here in the US for a 2.5 year name check and 2 years of some IO refusing to send our file to the NVC. National security or whatever is no excuse for a mistake like the one that happened to the OP.

I wanted to add that I know you mean no harm. Really, I do. It just stings sometimes because AlQaeda has nothing to do with confusing 2011 for 2012.

Personally, I'd get in touch with the Officer in Charge ASAP and possibly even file a complaint with CIS Ombudsman.

I agree, I hope your husband is still there and he can express the emotional and financial heartache this error has cost both of you. I'm so sorry...

This is good advise and exactly what my husband did in a similar situation at our embassy. The result was our total satisfaction. I hope that is what you experiance.

The inital contact should be done by the USC I think if possible. My husband did it by email to the director and then to the duty officer.

This comes from the "top-down" Sorry to say, but you and yours aren't a member of the preferred minority. My wife was born in Belfast and we know, without a doubt, there's a party (currently in power), that discourages immigration from anywhere "south of our border".

US Citizens? Vote appropriately.

(unless, of course, your spouse is from a preferred minority)

After being in AP (Administrative Processing) for a year since our interview date, they screw up again. Last week I sent the Cairo Embassy a case status inquiry on our since we were coming up to one year. They replied that we had a final interview Oct 3, 2012 at 7:30am. That I didn't need to be present and that my husband should bring his passport and medical exam.

My husband had been working in Czech Republic for the last month, he changed his return flight home $250 after, he did the medical exam again about $70 and pay for a hotel room for the overnight stay. He gets there on time, is called to the window, asked why he is there, he tells them because of the paper you have in your hands. She reads the email and tells him to take a seat and he will be called again. After 10 minutes, they tell him, "Sorry Mr. Ahmed the Email was not for you, it was a mistake, we are sorry, that the case that had an interview today was CRO2012...... not CRO2011......"

Really!! Seriously!!!!!!! Can you believe this #######? How incompetent can they be? Wouldn't you think that they would confirm the name and case number match? We even sent them multiple emails regarding the subject on the same email thread. You would think that either of the two staff members that answered us would have caught it.

We are so pissed off at the stupidity.

:angry::ranting:

honestly I dont think the Egyptian embassy has done one thing right in my process. Never mailed me a packet 3. finally I got emailed them after a month, and they basically said " oops sorry yeah, we sent that to the wrong address, but never let you know via email, or phone call".. cool no problem.. now im waiting for 4 months for these incompetent people to schedule me an interivew. it seems like scheduling an interview is the easiest part of the process. but not to those people. its not like we ask for much.. JUST DO YOUR JOB

After sending a Formal Complaint letter this Monday, addressed to the Ambassador with a copy to DOS and USCIS via FedEx and Email. We received an email yesterday morning that the immigrate visa chief reviewed our case and that it was in its final stages. Also my husband received a call at home advising him to send renewed medical, police report and form DS-230 by DHL as soon as possible. It seems maybe the letter grabbed their attention and it's gotten the case moving again. Thanks Goddddd

Only question I have is if we will have the pay the immigrate visa fee again? Any one have a clue?
