And wth difference does it make what a poll says? The only poll that counts is the election itself! If you don't want to believe a poll then DON'T!

I had one call me up the otherday and start arguing with me on my answers..... though to be honest, I don't think it was a real poll but rather a political hack doing a push-poll.

Polls are only accurate when they a) favor Romney or b) come from Twitter. Preferrably both!

Democrats complain about the polls being biased when they are behind, Republicans complain about the polls being biased when they are behind.

In the current polls they do skew them in favor of Democrats. When you see a Obama 47, Romney 47 it is actually a Romney 48 Obama 46 (I don't know the actual numbers) - they skew on recent history of who they think will show up based on the other questions they are asked in the survey.. The first time the polls were totally accurate (by less than a tenth) was the last election. They get more accurate over time but tend to be off in years where independents are in the race because they do not have enough history to know how the actual result will skew.

From a recent NY Times Article (Read the article, it does a decent job of explaining it):

In the 10 presidential elections since 1972, there have been five years (1976, 1980, 1992, 1996 and 2004) in which the national presidential polls overestimated the standing of the Democratic candidate. However, there were also four years (1972, 1984, 1988 and 2000) in which they overestimated the standing of the Republican. Finally, there was 2008, when the average of likely voter polls showed Mr. Obama winning by 7.3 percentage points, his exact margin of victory over John McCain, to the decimal place.
