It's so wrong how slow Vermont is going at the moment. I haven't even hit my 5 months yet, but i'm dreading how long it's going to take. I try so hard not to think about it. I miss my fiance so much and want my son to see his father. :(

I say send it- What do you have to lose? Nothing. Better to make an attempt to draw attention to your case rather than sit idly, not to mention you have submitted an expedite 2 months ago yet have heard nothing! I have letters I plan on mailing to my senators within the next week. I'd be interested in your update. Good luck.

05/02/12 - I-129F sent

5/04/12 - I-129F NOA1

11/15/12 - Approved I-129F NOA2 (6.5 months!!)

11/29/12 - NVC Received

12/10/12 - USEM Case Received

12/12/12 - Packet 3

12/21/12 - Packet 4

1/16/13 - Medical Exam

1/17/13 - Interview- computers crashed.... or so they claim!

Hello everyone,

Ive been perusing VisaJourney for some time, and Im grateful that a supportive community like this exists.

Its been over five months since I mailed out my K-1 application (before May 1st). Under the advice of my lawyer, about 3 months into the processing time, I submitted an expedite request based on an emergent situation. Two months have passed since my expedite request was received by the Vermont Service Center, and I have heard nothing back yet(not even a denial.) Furthermore, the last two times I called the NSC, they told me that normal processing time was 5 months. When I called again yesterday to find out the status of my expedite request, (which they still had no answer for), I was informed that the processing time was now 7 months. They are still working on Feb. 28th applications!

Im not sure what else I can do. My SO and I really dont want to needlessly wait 2 more months, when we definitely know that some couples who submitted at the same time as us have already had their application approved. Is it worth asking a senator for a letter at this point? Could a senators letter possibly annoy anyone at the service center and cause more harm than good? Some insight would be deeply appreciated. I dont want to rock the boat if there is the risk of it tipping over.

:time:

My congressional office told me to wait until December (after a couple of inquiries) as they should get to my file by then.

You are almost at 7 months and they say wait till December?? That's crazy...

To the OP: It won't hurt to contact your senator but I wouldn't expect much if I were you. I know it sucks to hear it, but there are still many people waited a lot longer than 5 months at VSC.

Wow! Thank you everyone for the fast responses. You are all so helpful and supportive.  It seems the best thing to do is to just bite my lip and wait it out for now. An exercise in patience...DEEP patience. :D

I would say, yes, contact your senator. I communicated with my senator's office (at the state level). They checked on things for me and told me to wait to the 5 month period and if nothing, then definitely contact them. They were very helpful. By the way, like many March filers at the CSC, we got our NAO2 after only 4 months!

Fortunately for you, CSC has been sending out the majority of notices in under 5 months for most of this year without any intervention necessary.

and what happened to chasing down the expedite request?

Oh yes, I have not forgotten about that. On a phone call with a tier 2 guy, I was told to send an email with my referral # in the subject line asking about the expedite request. The tier 2 guy said I should receive a response very quickly. If I don't receive any response, I'm definitely going to call them continuously until I get some closure (even if it's a denial, at least that's closure and I know where I stand!)
