You should be using :

1. your birth certificate white book and

2. your USCitizen Passport thingie..

2 proves up (again) that yer a USC, and 1 proves up the relationship between you and yer parent.

Thank you!

I emailed my passport bio page today along along withe supplemental information sheet.

Hope it doesn't delay my case.

Here is the supplemental sheet. I'm not sure it's used anymore but I filled it out and sent it anyway.

http://travel.state.gov/pdf/pk3_supplements/GUZ-SUP-MULT-0004-0904.pdf

You can ignore that e-mail. You will get another one a few days after you send your IV package.

Hopefully, your case will be complete a few days later.

I received an email from NVC today. It's neither a case complete notice nor a request for more evidence. It says "Checklist cover letter" in the subject line after my case number. I figured they hadn't processed my IV package email yet before they sent me this email.

I called NVC to get clarified. I also asked the agent about the Supplemental Information Sheet and was told it's still required. So I emailed the information and plus my passport bio page because Darnell mentioned about it. I wasn't sure whether I should send the whole package again or just the two documents. In the end, I only sent the two documents( I did attach the cover sheet from the payment portal in the beginning of the PDF).

The agent told me to call back in about 10 days if I haven't heard from them.

I wish I had waited till you replied the link of the Supplemental Information Sheet to email my IV package. Stupid me...

I don't know whether it would delay my application due to my two separate emails. Or how long it would delay the whole process?

the doc list (forms for download and stuff needed )

is up at

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Electronic_Processing

it mentions Canada (in passing) but it's really specific to China/Guangzhou

and

The GUZ IV P3 Supplemental form is absolutely required with the DS-230.

as to the 'checklist letter' - pay attention to it - if it seems to be asking for 1 or 2 things, then yer missing something.

If it's generic, and listing ALL ya need for either IV or AOS, then you can disregard it.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

One thing Darnell. My in-laws should still get a Packet 4 mailed to them, right? We received the interview date by email, but there's no interview letter yet. Should we expect that or just proceed with our preparation without it?

interview letter comes in VIA EMAIL when doing EP, and that's it.

This 'packet 4' thingie is solely the appointment letter.

THEY NEED TO PRINT IT OUT and take it to the medical exam; else they won't get a medical done.

Also need to take the print out to the document intake day and interview day, it's used to get into the IV Unit.

Thank you very much Darnell!

I did come across that link before and I don't know why I neglected the details. :bonk:

Maybe I was overwhelmed by all the tech part regarding the scanning.

I will ask a friend of mine to read the "checklist letter" again although I have read it many times. Just want to be sure...

Today I got an email from NVC informing me of receiving my IV package email( the one I send last week, not yesterday, I can tell from the subject line).

I am wondering when they gonna realize that I sent the Supplemental Information Sheet and my passport bio page afterwards. They must receive thousands or millions of emails a day. Hope the system automatically loads emails with the same case no. in the subject line to the same folder or something ?

Gosh, hope the waiting comes to an end soon !

Hi Darnell,

OK, thanks. We'll do that. One other thing. The letter doesn't mention anything about it being a two day process. There is no reference to "document intake day" All it says is:

An immigrant visa interview has been scheduled for the applicant at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in

GUANGZHOU ELECTRONIC on November 1, 2012 at 12:30 pm.

Should we plan on it being two days despite no reference to it?

absolutely ! 1 NOV is the first day, the document intake day.

2 NOV will be the actual interview day.

One more question here....

All the original documents such as the white books I have to bring to the interview will be returned to me right ?

The consulate won't take any originals ?

Thank you!

you won't get the Police certificate back, at all.

HOWEVER, if you want the REST OF THE WHITE BOOKS RETURNED -

bring the originals (you are required so to do, anyway) WITH FULL PHOTOCOPIES (just a photocopy machine'd version, not any notarized thingie)

and you'll get the originals back.

Don't provide photocopies? They'll be kept, usually.

I know, it sucks, but it's easy to make it happen, this way.

Good to know. The white books are more difficult to obtain now then they were 5 years ago. They make you jump through lots of hoops.

Great! Thanks for letting me know.

I don't mind giving a copy of the police record to them at all. It's the birth certificate I am most concerned about.

I got my birth certificate white book almost ten years ago when I came to the US and now I only have the last original left after mailing the other original in the I-130 application. Back then it's much easier to get the white books and my birthday certificate white book doesn't list either my ID number or my parents'.

My mother got a daughter-and-mother relationship white book this time and the notary person put my expired Chinese passport number in it. The guy insisted getting all the copies back before he could issue new ones. I guess I really don't need the new ones now if I can save my last precious birth certificate white book. I don't think I can ever get another birth certificate white book from China because it's much stricter now and I can't have a birth certificate from the hospital either.

Suppose the notary person issues new daughter-and-mother relationship white books and put my current US passport number in it...But I don't know whether I will have the same passport number when I get a new one(my current one is running out pages). I looked up online and the answer varies.
