SSN Does not Match Legal Name

Hello,

I am the US citizen filing for my husband.

My SSN was never changed to match my new name, only my passport and DL match my married name.

Is this going to cause issues? Or will I be okay because it asks for my maiden name on the i-130?

Also, just to confirm, my husband doesn't have a SSN in the US, but he has an ITIN.

Since that is NOT the same thing, I should not put that, correct?

Assuming you are filing a cr1 I130. You can change your social for no charge, the number will remain the same, ITIN is used in place of not having a social. But you can put none and in your letter indicate he has a ITIN. Enter any AKAS for you and him. No expert on ITIN's but technically it is not a Social Security Number.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

I can only change my SSN by physically going to the office during work hours or by mailing the request in with my original drivers license... hilarious because I'm pretty sure I kinda NEED that to drive. Unless it has changed in the past 2 years.

EDIT: Oh even better not only that but they want my original passport too!

All of that is pretty impossible when I'm in Canada.

I guess I'll just take one of my days off at the end of the year and finally buck up and do it.

Go on your lunch hour, take a half a day vacation or don't change it. It will take less than an hour.

It would take me 8 hours to get to the office from Canada...............................

Also, when i'm IN the states, the office is about an hour to an hour and a half away.

I was there last week but that would NOT happen with the stupid Ryder cup less than half a mile away from my office on TOP of construction traffic... I'm still bitter about it taking an hour to go 2 blocks on Friday -_-
