I got an appt for my biometrics for naturalization. On the appt form it says that I need to brind with me an alien registration card. what is that?

Also, does my husband have to be with me for biometrics? I am applying for citizenship based in marriage with US citizen.

How long does it usually take between biometrics and the date I have to take the citizenship test?

Thanks

You need to bring your permanent resident card or "green card". Your husband doesn't have to be with you for biometrics.

The time between biometrics and interview highly depends on Service Center where you are filling N400 and where your District Office is. It can be 1 month or 6 months.

Good luck!

He can come with you for interview for citizenship but he'll have to stay in the waiting room while you're being interviewed. Good Luck!

Its true he will stay in the waiting area, but I HIGHLY recommend for him to be with you, specially your N-400 is based on marriage, at my interview, the officer asked me if I live with the same US citizen and he said " she is the one who was waiting with you outside, I said YES ", so they do pay attention to these little things. If your husband cannot make it to the interview with you, this is fine, but if he can, take him with you just in case.

For us, a long drive in an area strange for my wife, so drove her, same with my stepdaughter. That was our main time for studying the civics test together. Yes, I wanted to be there with them, with my wife, to make sure we got all of our original evidence back, not easy nor cheap to replace. We also reviewed her N-400 application, you will be questioned line by line on that and why you answered all those questions the way you did.

Of course they were nervous walking into a building loaded with armed guards, been dealing with government agencies all my life, so use to it. And there to make sure they get everything back, can tend to go brain dead.

Wife's and stepdaughter's IO would never even acknowledge my existence, seems weird in particular with my wife since my name is on all the evidence, but I was there for their support. Did get one of those brief cases from Officemax with folders built in, so my wife could quickly find the originals neatly arranged, wife in particular was exhausted after her 46 minute interview, she needed a rest for that long drive home. But she passed, also dress so you are not conscious about your appearance. Feel my wife wearing one of her best business suits was an overkill as she had a large woman for her IO that wasn't dressed very well. Probably why she asked my wife three times if she was a prostitute, wife was offended by that, but had to keep her cool.
