I believe I just attached mine with a paperclip. I didn't staple or glue anything.

I paper clipped.. only cos I couldn't find any glue and I wasn't comfortable sticking a staple through my head/photo. instructions say to staple or glue though. so I don't think it would matter if you followed the instructions.
