I really need some advice and guidance... I feel so lost looking through all the information online for obtaining a work visa for the US ... I don't really know where to begin or what information I'm going to need.

I have a contact in the US who can get me work in Cali. At the moment it's all early days and a tad vague. I get the feeling I'll need something more solid before I can get the info I need. What exactly do I need to do to apply e.g job type, duration, wage etc? Is the responsibility on me or more the potential employer over there?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you !

It is responsibility of the employer, typically costs quite a bit and has requirements to meet (like education or work experience for example). Things like that are typically dealt with by the lawyers hired by prospective employers and he/she should be the one you should be talking to.
