Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone has any info on what should be included in a letter of employment indicating expected date of return.

Visiting my boyfriend in the states and I have reached the end of the internet trying to find a letter template or clues as to everything that should be mentioned in this letter.

Things I know should be included:

Company name, corporate name (as it matches my pay stubs) dates leaving and date to be back at work, contact information for employer.

How do I smoothly add that I am leaving on X day and returning on X day.

Do I have to include salary? How long I've worked for the company? Should it mention where I am going in the states? Who should I address it to and should I mention the airport?

It's only 5 days but I just don't want to leave anything out.

Thanks in advance!

Are you filing for a visa of any kind? Or are you simply visiting?

Just visiting my boyfriend for five days.

I saw some of the ones for K1 but that isn't what I'm looking for. I don't want my letter to be strange since they mentioned salary and I wasn't sure if that was even necessary

If you're just visiting, there's no reason for you to be looking at K1 requirements. That's entirely different and a process you aren't going through. This forum has advice for people going through a visa process, so the posts don't apply to you much at all.

It's still a good idea to bring ties to your home country whenever you're trying to visit the US. A simple letter from your employer stating your position at the company, the date you're leaving and the date you're expected to return is sufficient. Also make sure to have a return ticket. You likely won't be asked for these things, but better to have it in case you are.

Yes I figured the K1 letter template was overkill.

Thanks for the info!

I printed out my email exchange from my manager about my approved vacation leave. I made sure that his title is in his signature. On top of that, i requested from our HR a certicate of employment.
