I understand AZ is one of the harder states with all of it's immigration laws. I'm thinking that when his EAD comes we should be able to go to the DMV with that and his passport. I did finally get the name and email address of the Human at the local DMV who is in the CDL compliance unit. I've emailed her my specific questions. We'll see what happens.

This page at the GA dds.gov website gives the documents that may be used to prove lawful presence. I just didn't know exactly what document number an EAD was. Now that Nich-Nick verified that I think we'll be okay. He's just going to be stuck around the house with no driving privileges while I'm at work. :( Thankfully not for a really long time though it may feel like an eternity to him as he's already going mad not being able to work. :wacko:

We had researched all of this when we first started the K1 journey. However, as you pointed out with all the federal immigration regulations a lot of new laws regarding this changed as of July 1, 2012. He came into the country July 6, 2012. Before July 1 he could have driven on his English license for up to a year.

We also had the same prob...i went down before we got married knowing possibly they would only issue me one til my I94 expired..but was told they wouldnt issue me a license till we had got married and had the receipt NOA1 for AOS. once i had those docs in hand they would allow me too apply for one. Just waiting on my hardcopy...cant wait.
