he and i married. filing for aos. lawyer adviced to get approval letter from his parents in india.

i am lost. what should this entail. they have asked for my advice on this and i have nothing to tell because i dont know.

What visa are you adjusting status from?

Both are 33. We are seeking from student to I would assume husband, as he and I are married.

Shouldn't be needed. If you were interviewing in your home country it may be wise to have. A simple acknowledgement from the parents.

Yes. I know this but what should it say. How long. Etc.

The attorney is advising you to supply letters from your families saying that they approve of the marriage. First time I've heard/seen this type of advice offered in this type of scenario.

Whatever your parents think is enough. Could be 2 lines, could be 2 paragraphs, could be more.

For an interview here in the US, it doesn't seem necessary. It's not the cultural norm in the US.

If you really feel that your attorney is right, get another opinion or two from different lawyers. If they all agree, ask the folks. IMO, not needed but can't hurt.
