Sorry, but you're in the wrong forum! This is for IR-1/CR-1 applicants. You're looking for the AOS (Adjustment of Status) forum.

Our RFE review is now taking longer than our original filing. Is this normal? Our RFE response was delivered to NVC two weeks ago. Originally reviewing the AOS and the DS-230 took 11 and 12 days respectively.

NVC actually reopened on the 30th around 11am. I called at what would have been 7-8am their time and it was still closed, and my husband tried again successfully in the afternoon :)

Still no case number - must be patient!

Ok - got the number! Haha.

Question though, I asked for the IIN (and said it was the invoice identification number). She was like 'uhhh... a what?' Maybe it was my kiwi accent that confused her, but anyway, she said that they don't issue you with an IIN until you receive your first invoice.

So my question is, was I just unlucky with the CSO I got? Or did I read all these instructions wrong? Either way, I gave over both of our email addresses.

I am sorry you got Sally the idiot operator. Good grief. Call today soonest. They will have your IIN. I mean really. You have to have the flippin IIN to even login to see your invoice what was her issue. Okay we will blame Hurricane Sandy for this one. Call them. And happy jouney.

I actually got my IIN only a couple of days after my case number and then it took a few more days until the first invoice showed on the online payment site. don't stress over the IIN too much. It doesn't help you anything until your first invoice gets issued anyway.

bcoz they are idiots. I went to FEDEX.COM and looked at the spreadsheet of places affected in New Hampshire and Portsmouth is NOT one of the cities. They give me bad advise at fedex office.

Did you have to call to get the IIN? Or just wait for an email/something to be issued? What am I waiting for exactly that would have the IIN on it?

The first piece of correspondence NVC sends out contains the case number, IIN, among other things. But by the time you get it, your AOS may already be invoiced. So, instead of wasting time, I suggest you call NVC up asap and get it from a competent operator. If they don't know what you're talking about or refuse to give it to you, just hang up and call again.

I did get it by calling but only a couple of days after the case number. Also, if your case number was only generated yesterday, they won't have invoiced you anything yet, so don't stress. Just call again tonight and ask for the invoice number and you'll be fine.

Yeah, I know ;) I noticed that. I always just hit reply.... Guess I should work on that! Any ideas on my RFE and why it is taking longer than the original review?

Hit reply after the person you want to reply to, not just the last reply in the thread. You got it right this time though laughing.gif

As for your checklist, you should hear from this week. Remember, NVC is located near where Sandy was hitting, so besides the day (or two?) they were closed, I'm sure they couldn't work as hard due to worrying if they need to close or not. So, it's nearing the same amount of time as it took for the original review. Just keep calling NVC every day asking for an update.
