Hi guys, its been a while. I had my interview yesterday at the US embassy in AbuDhabi which resulted in AP :(. Below is the link to the review.

Review

Unfortunately, it's common for those in MENA countries to be put into AP. It doesn't look like you had any red flags and were put into AP because of that. It's most likely just to do background checks. Hopefully it passes quickly though. Good luck!

Thanks saylin. Yes, we didnt had any red flag. They are putting almost all the paskistani males in AP lately. I just pray to ALLAH that they complete the process quickly.

How wrong is it? Just a letter or two off? Being that your wife is the petitioner in this case, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. You can always point it out at POE and have it corrected. As long as your visa is all correct, it should be fine.

There's only an extra letter thrown in there for some reason.

Weird. Since it's such a small mistake, it shouldn't be an issue. And like I said before, since it's not on the visa, it honestly shouldn't matter. Just mention it at POE if you want. They might go over that sheet with you anyways to make sure the address (and other info) is correct, so the green card gets to the right place.

Sure thing.

I chalked it up to the human factor. I assume someone at the embassy made a typo. I am 99,9% sure I have spelled it correctly in all the forms I have filled out, and I am equally sure my wife has made no spelling errors. I thought I'd send en email to the embassy and ask, we'll see, maybe I will, maybe I won't.

Yeah, unfortunately, typos happen. We're human, we make mistakes. Yeah, might be a good idea to contact the embassy and ask. Be warned though, you may be asked to return to the embassy.

ok....so I have been reading so much here and there my head is spinning!!! question about NVC docs....my hubby´s certs (birth, police, military, etc) are all in spanish. we will be at the santiago, chile embassy.

I understand if the language of your embassy is the same as your docs, they don´t need to be translated....thoughts? (i read a couple threads that montreal can be picky about having English but that other embassies are cool with their native language).

of course I can´t find the government page at the moment pertaining to this....

On NVC's site, they do state that translations aren't needed if they're in the official language of the country where the interview is being held. BUT (and this is important), despite this, I have seen people get checklists (not sure if I've seen one from Canada, I can only recall other countries) where they did not include translations but were asked for them, even though their documents were in the official language of the country where the interview was going to be. I've also seen people without translations and had no problems. It always depends on the reviewing officer and how picky they are. So, you're going to be taking a risk not sending translations.

Honestly, if it were me, I'd get the translations done and send them. You may end up needing the translations anyways when your husband comes here as most Americans he's going to deal with won't be able to read Spanish and may request a translation if his documents are ever needed (like opening a bank account or something).

A few people suggested getting the translations of any documents sent to NVC. I contacted the US embassy in Poland via e-mail, and got a response which stated the same message as on the above link. And, I have no idea how it is in Santiago. Like you say: some are picky, some are not.

For NVC documents, I think part of the problem can be that the NVC reviewer can't necessarily tell what language something is in, that's why we included a sentence in the cover letter that said that all documents were either in English or French as per NVC instructions. Seems to have worked just fine :D

Yeah, We tend to know our stuff more than NVC does laughing.giflaughing.gif

I think this is an appropriate time for a popular phrase: it's better to be safe than sorry!

Although declaring what language documents are in on the cover letter is a good idea, I don't think that's the real reason why checklists are issued for some people. I believe it's because the documents are just not in English. Plain and simple. The picky reviewer can't read it, thus issues a checklist. I personally don't think it has anything to do with not being able to recognize the language (although it very well could be, who knows!).

Ah! So this is what a US immigrant visa looks like. Aw, how cute. An image of Abraham Lincoln. Howdy partner, maybe I'll see you soon.

Yay ! Congratulations !

Ok, meh - time for a 2 day nap, no coffee, 1 hour of exercise daily, wash all of yer underbritches, practice packing.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
