Hi, this is my very first post but I've been reading this forum for years now. I've been married to an US citizen since March 2010, we applied for AOS and it was approved in November 2010. Last october we filed to have the conditions removed with the help of the lawyer that originally filed the AOS, with all the great news of people being approved here I was thinking "mine is on its way" , but yesterday I got a RFE letter, they said they received the following:

-joint tax return for 2010, 2011

-automobile insurance

-life insurance

-affidavit of residence

-bank statements dated august 2010 through november 2011

-joint credit cards

-various photos

I didn't prepare the package myself, the lawyer's office did, but I remember providing them with bank statements up to september 2012, the USCIS is saying that the evidence provided doesn't show that me and my husband share responsibility for most of the assets and liabilities of the marriage and that we have not sent sufficient examples of shared assets and liabilities spanning the period of the marriage to share that we have continuously shared a life together.

We lived in his sisters house from June 2010 until November 2010, when we moved into his mother's house to help her since she's older and sick. Around January 2012 his mother condition worsened and we had to send her to a nursing home nearby where they could take care of her better, at that point we where going to rent an apartment, but we where denied several times due to my husband's poor credit history and my almost nonexistent one, so we ended up moving into his sister's again. I submitted an affidavit from 2010 where his sister said we lived with her, but I forgot to get affidavits for the other years because we only made verbal agreements, no lease involved.

I'm trying to figure out what else to submit, I can get his mother and sister to sign affidavits attesting the time we lived in their homes and our bank statements and car insurance cards show those 2 addresses, i printed all the bank statements from jan 2012 until now, both checking and savings accounts in both names, i can get a transcript of our 2012 tax returns, I have a will that I made a few months ago where my husband is the primary beneficiary of my assets, and I can have some friends write and sign affidavits of our relationship (do these need to be notarized?).

What else do you think I should add or try to get as additional evidence? We don't have utility bills because we've always lived with family and because of the credit issues our car is under his brother's name. I'm really upset because i think either our lawyer's office didn't submit all the evidence we provided them with or somebody overlook our file while reviewing it.

It sounds like your lawyer is less organized and prepared to do his job than the rest of the typical VJ community. Sorry for the RFE but you should be able to take care of this. Best of luck!

We got it!!!

Can someone update my status.

We got our approval letter on Apr. 26th and the GCs for my wife and her son came in the mail on May 1st.

I am amazed how quickly they arrived after the welcome letter.

I hope everyone is going to get theirs soon

Dear pinky toes , visa journey over the years has taught me that lawyers are a waste of time and resources. Re package UR documents yourself with what you mentioned and I am sure you will be fine! You can ask the lawyers for copies of the initial package sent in to confirm what exactly they left out. Sorry abt the rfe. Keep the hope alive

Was shocked when approval letter arrived today, since ours wasn't accepted until Nov 9th. Was really worried about an RFE since the only bank stuff I submitted was a letter from our credit union saying we had a joint account and one bank statement.
