Wow! Good for you my friend! It is wonderful that only 3 days have passed before you received your NOA1! It brings hope to my heart. Do you know, if there is a way to check the status of our Application without NOA1? Our check was just cashed today, so I was wondering, if I can see our status online. Thanks for your answer and help.

didn't get around to mailing the package in until oct. 25 (fri)

package arrived in vermont service center on oct 29 (mon); i was thankful that fedex didn't get delayed by hurricane sandy.

the bank account shows a temporary transaction for the fee with name "VSC" something something

Thanks Shelant. There is no way to check the status of your case. Once you will get your Biometrics letter , then you have your receipt number on it. From there onwards , you will be able to see your status online. As i said , usually they send NOA1 letter after cashing your check. So dont worry , just wait 2-3 days. Good luck.

Hi All,

I am a October Filer. I have sent my package on October 23 and it was delivered to VSC on October 26 at 3:00 PM.

My check is not cleared yet and that's what is worrying me a lot. I am checking my account periodically but no activity. Initially I was thinking that it might be delayed due to Sandy storm but now I am seeing that people have got the packet deliver on Monday and the check is cleared for them.

I am not sure I should really worry at this point or it is normal. Please guide me if there is any was I can confirm whats going on.

I would really appreciate any help in this regards!

This is prob a stupid question, but you wrote the check payable to the correct institution, right?

I think the official 751 instruction said the check must be made payable to "U.S. Department of Homeland Security"

here, i just went and pulled up the original PDF file, here's what it says--

The check or money order must be drawn on a bank or other financial institution located in the United States and must be payable in U.S. currency; and

2. Make the check or money order payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security, unless:

A. If you live in Guam, make it payable to Treasurer, Guam.

B. If you live in the U.S. Virgin Islands, make it payable to Commissioner of Finance of the Virgin Islands.

C. If you live outside the United States, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands, contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or consulate for instructions on the method of payment.

NOTE: Spell out U.S. Department of Homeland Security; do not use the initials "USDHS" or "DHS."

First of all thanks for your reply. It is definitely not a stupid question. I also crossed checked again to see if i wrote it correctly and that's what i have put in, U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

This is a really bad situation where i am helpless....any other suggestions...

Hi everyone! I had my biometrics on tuesday october 30 and the uscis employee there who did took my picture & and did the finger scanning asked me if i did received a letter for extension of my 2 yr GC. I told him that i did'nt received anything yet with the extension for my GC other than the letter for my biometrics. He told me also to call the 800 number and asked them to send one to me.. My question is : did anyone here received letter from USCIS for the extension of the 2year GC?

K1 VISA

OCTOBER 2, 2009 - Received our noa1

JANUARY 13,2010 - Received NOA2/approval (email)

JULY 20,2010- submitted aos application to chicago via UPS

JULY 26,2010- received the aos packet by USCIS

AUGUST 2,2010 notice date/noa 1 appeared on the letter

AUGUST 11,2010 received mail for biometrics appointment

SEPT 01,2010 - biometrics appointment

SEPT 22,2010 - received letter for my interview on Nov. 17

SEPT 24, 2010 - received my EAD card

NOV 17, 2010 - interview

DEC 2010- Green Card Received!

Hi everyone! I had my biometrics on tuesday october 30 and the uscis employee there who did took my picture & and did the finger scanning asked me if i did received a letter for extension of my 2 yr GC. I told him that i did'nt received anything yet with the extension for my GC other than the letter for my biometrics. He told me also to call the 800 number and asked them to send one to me.. My question is : did anyone here received letter from USCIS for the extension of the 2year GC?

The NOA1 letter is called as "Extension letter for your 2 yr GC". The NOA1 letter states that "Your green card has been extended for one more year". So my question is that , "Did you ever got your NOA1 letter in mail ?" . Usually people got that letter within 1-2 week after sending the I-751 packet.

02-28-14 -> I-130 sent to Chicago Lockbox.
03-03-14 -> USCIS received. (Priority Date)
03-09-14 -> NOA1 received.
06-04-14 -> NOA2 received. Approved.
06-18-14 -> NVC Received case.
07-03-14 -> NVC Assigned Case#(Got Case# & IIN Over the Phone).
07-22-14 -> DS-261 Completed.
07-25-14 -> AOS fee Payment.
07-29-14 -> AOS fee shows PAID.
07-30-14 -> AOS Package Sent.
07-31-14 -> AOS Package delivered.
09-15-14 -> IV fee Payment.

09-17-14 -> IV fee Shows PAID.

09-18-14 -> IV Package Sent.
09-20-14 -> IV Package Delivered.

10-20-14 -> Case Complete.

10-28-14 -> Case Complete Email Received.

The NOA1 letter is called as "Extension letter for your 2 yr GC". The NOA1 letter states that "Your green card has been extended for one more year". So my question is that , "Did you ever got your NOA1 letter in mail ?" . Usually people got that letter within 1-2 week after sending the I-751 packet.

I did not received it.. I thought NOA1 was also the bio letter i received.. I'm thinking it might get lost in the mail.. The immigration officer who did bio told me that i should have got it before the biometrics letter.. But i'll call 800 number tomorrow and ask about it...

NoA1 letter & Biometrics letter both are different. You should call 800 number and find out.
