hi everyone,

i have received my NOA -2 and am preparing to fill out the affidavit of support. my co-sponsor is recently unemployed but has the past 3 years tax returns, $20, 000 in savings banks, and real estate worth $1 million.

1. Will this be sufficient?

2. Do I need a co-sponsor who is employed and has current annual income?

3. Can I have 2 co-sponsors?

4. on the affidavit, it ask you to state where you are employed...if you are unemployed, do you write that? does this look bad?

My fiance is coming from Ghana...

thankyou..

Cannot have multiple joint sponsors using the I-134.

If the sponsor is the sole owner and has significant equity in the $1M real estate then that person should be ok.

It would be simpler to have a joint sponsor with current income that meets the requirement.

Is it confirmed that the joint sponsor in the I-134 needs to qualify on his/her own without any income combining with the main sponsor?

The I-134 does not have any provisions for combining incomes.

The I-864 does allow for combining incomes with qualifying household members.

In my experience at USEG they just looked at the numbers to make sure your co-sponsor helps you to bridge whatever gap you are missing. As long as the co-sponsor has the last three years of tax returns, you should be okay and any financial stuff that could be liquidated into cash should they need to; I believe you will be fine
